  1. The paint and decal finishes look great. Seeing an interior shot may not be possible at this time but I'm sure the finishes would just as nice. An excellent looking Pace Car on a Pro Touring chassis, why not.
  2. I have had one of these kits for ever and so far have only used the chrome wheels for another project. The multi part body has put me off on this one so I'll be watching this build for inspiration. I like your body jig idea.
  3. I bought a '69 Camaro from the original owners around 1976 or 1977. They had bought it new when they lived in Los Vegas NV. At the time of purchase we were both living in Santa Maria Ca. The car had always been in a dry climate and never undercoated. The under carriage was mostly gray as I recall with very little overspray except in the area of the right rear quarter panel that was replaced because of an accident. This particular car had a chrome molding that ran between the front and rear wheel opening just below the door. The area below that molding was painted a semi gloss black with almost no overspray showing. The rear wheel wells were painted with an undercoating type finish and the front wheel wells were the same OEM type semi gloss black that Chevrolet used at that time on their inner front fenders with no undercoating type treatment on this particular car. I don't know for sure what Chevrolet did on cars going to other parts of the country, but most of the cars I remember were treated in the same way and my thought is that it may have had to do with where they were shipping the car for sale. The eastern and northern parts of the country it would have made since for them to add additional rust protection in general and they did offer an option of undercoating from the factory, but most dealers would order their inventory untreated and then sell undercoating as additional mark up and profit. One thing to remember from that era was that the old adage of "never buy a car built on a Friday" held truer than you might think. The quality control of that time was far more hit and miss than we see today. In the end you're looking at a machine built 50 years ago and the finishes weren't consistent back then. So I'd build it the way it looks best to you and call it a day.
  4. If I don't know the number when someone calls I just don't answer. If it's a real call they will leave a message. Then every evening I go onto the Kansas State No Call Site and list the number date and time of the call. I just don't seem to get as many calls as I used to.
  5. Well maybe what ever that is.
  6. I think the windshield and maybe all of the "glass" was treated with Future. The windshield looks like it may have had a little dust on it when it was treated and the dust is suspended in the future, don't ask how I know this.
  7. Like you I have used mostly Tamiya paints and their different shades of black for the suspension. The TS-6 Matte Black you mentioned is a fairly flat no gloss black. If you want something even flatter, if there is such a thing, try TS-82 Rubber Black. This spray will cost a few dollars more but I don't know of anything darker or flatter than that.
  8. I'd love to see your pictures but I don't do Fake Book.
  9. I like the showroom stock look of this build. Very clean looking.
  10. Looks great. I like the owner modified look. Wouldn't normally think of the exterior and interior color combination, but after seeing it they really compliment each other. The white sides on the roof look better than having all one color. I like the way you did the chassis.
  11. That's a very good point. I think that the Catalina and Impala shared the same wheel base, if the resin body is of one of the senior models then the wheel base would be different.
  12. Very impressive body work and the chopped top looks just right. The side windows look as if it could be a hard top.
  13. The AMT '59 El Camino would be good, but you might also consider the Revelle '59 Impala or even their '60 Impala since they are both a later design and may have a little more detail than the El Camino. It will also depend on what you have or how easy it is to obtain one of the others.
  14. The old AMT Corvair kit has been reissued many times over. The basic kit is very good and it has been offered with several different equipment levels. The point is one of these kits should be fairly easy to obtain at a reasonable price. Maybe even post your needs on this forum in that section. Someone will be willing to work a trade or something for you.
  15. I feel like I'm missing a lot of good stuff. Just now got some of the car pop ups and the up coming Mecum guitar auction, but mostly sexy senior ladies looking for excitement. I guess they figured out I'm not a young pup anymore.
  16. Looking at interior colors you might want to consider some of the Military Colors offered by Tamiya. They have a wide range of browns and tans as well as other colors.
  17. I think it looks great. I think your building skills transfer well to 1/25th cars.
  18. I followed your build on this and it all came together beautifully. I wouldn't have thought of the light color but it looks great finished.
  19. I like your color choice and the pictures outside really look good. What do you have in mind for the interior ?
  20. Modeler Mark has a good point. Lately we have listed our home with a realtor in hopes of selling and down sizing where we live. I have also been looking on line for what a yard storage shed kit may cost since I'll still need a place for mowers and such. Now the pop ups that I see on this forum are about houses for sale in our area and mower sheds, go figure. These same types of ads show up on the main screen on the computer when I'm just trying to read the news. It's sort of like a Vulcan mind meld.
  21. I have no use for spiders in any way shape or form. I use some Ortho Home Defense spray inside the house and that barely holds them back. Out side I have had to resort to a product called Tempo. Reading the label it suggests that you cover your self just short of a hazmat suit. A face mask is required. Even a light application seems to get ride off the spiders and pretty much every other winged creature in the eves of your home. The spiders out side had gotten so bad that you would have to use a broom stick to knock down the webs covering your doorways. The reason they are getting bad now is they realize that fall is coming and they're looking for a place to call home for the winter. The warm air escaping around your windows and doors attracts them and they don't like to get rained on either.
  22. Great looking Convertible. Nice color and interior combination.
  23. Great looking build. Is this the Revelle or AMT kit ? Very popular color combination in that era.
  24. Those were converted gas engines and would be better represented by a grenade with the pin pulled.
  25. There would be minor differences depending on which plant built the car. My new '86 Monte Carlo SS was a west coast car. The under side of the body was a very flat medium gray with no metallic. Mine happened to be white and there was some white over spray, but it was very light and the best way I can think of to describe it was as if a very light fog of white paint over the underside of the body. The frame was a very flat black and the suspension was ever so slightly glossier than the frame. The steering linkage and the A arms, rear trailing arms and springs were a it and miss at best on the black paint. The OEM spiral shocks were gray in color. The differential was also very lightly painted. My suggestion would be practice on a piece of spruce by holding the black spray can several inches away and give it short bursts of paint. As Slick Shifter mentioned the inner wheel wheels in the rear and parts of the front are like an undercoating spray.
