What did you see on the road today?
espo replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You have to wonder about the story behind the little Chevy coupe. So the guy' likes Corvairs. Now this mid '50's Ford F100 with the caved in roof and the Big Block sitting in back ? -
You are not alone on Herb and the Band.

I'll have to get a couple of these. The one disappointment might be the carry over NASCAR front seat, beyond that I see nothing but good things for this kit. I noticed that they include the better floor and inner fender part that I think comes from the wagon model. This will make it easier to put wider tires than stock on the front. Great looking mag wheels even if you're not building a Gasser.

1948 Ford F-1 Airplane Version

This looks amazing. Is it based on a Die Cast or Plastic ? The Interior and the Engine are exceptional looking. -
Besides being an extremely clean looking build, I really like the way you used the colors. The wheels and tires and the stance are just right.
-
This body work is just so creative. What color or colors are you thinking of ? What about the interior ?
-
Other than a slight shadow of the third tail light your ready for your final coat of paint. Are you going to black out the bumpers and grill like the prototype ? I like the chrome wheels so the wheels and tires don't disappear.

1950 Ford Jitney Bus

OO boy. Yup the distributer is on the front of the engine on the Flat Head. I would first see how hard it would be to remove the Distributer. If that doesn't work just cut it off level with the block and then cut the plug wires off. You could make your own front mount Distributer with a short piece off hollow tubing mounted to the Distributer Drive that is cast on this engine. Redirect your plug wires to the new Distributer and then glue them all in place. A little paint touch up and no one will ever know. -
Got a new daily ride yesterday!

First off, your not going to lose that in a parking lot. All joking aside I think it looks great. This may restart the different shades of Yellow seen on so many cars a few years ago. This looks bold and you're going to have to keep it clean because you really will not like how it looks after a rain or snow storm. -
We got a Sling Shot thingy a couple of tears ago and would put a dries corn cob in it. The Squirrel would jump from a branch too the corn cob and the elastic would stretch and then launch the Squirrel into the air. It was great fun until the Squirrel got tired off it and stopped jumping on the corn cob.

Never heard of this before, but WOW!!!!!

This was a very big deal years ago. I think GM was trying to get new designers into the industry. At that time there just wasn't the information available to the average student as to the options for a career. At one time Chip Foose was a student at their design studio in Los Angeles. I have no idea if he was part of the program, but this was the type of designers they were trying to attract. -
This is the same way I feel. I guess it's like the five second rule if you drop a cookie on the floor. The Morning Doves and the Squirrels can fight it out for what lands on the ground. I have tried several different "Squirrel Proof" feeders and even installed the umbrella type covers to keep the Squirrels out of the feeders. They always find a way to defeat what ever I do. I have seen them hang from their hind legs to get to the feeder and even jump from near by trees to land on the feeders. These critters are nothing if not athletic. I can hear them on the roof sometimes and that worries me but as long as they aren't trying to get in and don't chew up the house I guess it's alright.

Squirrels at one time were thought to be cute. We didn't have any for many years after we built our home in a rural area. We have lived elsewhere and would see a few and they were entertaining to watch. A couple of years ago a lone squirrel appeared and the only problem he offered was getting into the bird feeders. We have a couple of Oaks and Cedars that offer enough food, but he seemed to like the bird seed the best. Last year we noticed another Squirrel hanging around and they presented us with SIX baby Squirrels this year and they are running thru the trees chasing and wrestling with each other and doing there best "Flying Squirrel" imitations. After seeing Tom's experience I'm starting to think some intervention would be in our best interest.

Beautiful looking Roadster. Your paint technique gives a very believable finish. In addition this is a very cleanly built.

Mice can and do breed faster than Rabbits. You can't just have one Mouse. Dicon is the answer, but only if you don't have any house hold pets.

Revell 1941 Chevrolet Pickup

I really like the OEM look of these early work horses. Great looking paint finish and the stance looks just right. -
Very nice looking body and paint. The engine and chassis detailing is excellent.
-
Great looking finish and the engine room detailing is nice also.
-
Very clean looking build, and the paint detailing on the engine and chassis are really nice. All of the stripes look just as they should. We have a very active local Buick Club and one of the menbers has a GSX in white that looks just like your model. They both look outstanding to me.
-
Your body modifications all flow well. The body proportions can be very difficult to do without any jarring body lines. I like the mild chopped top the way you have done here.
-
This is really nice looking. The two bodies are blended perfectly and the plaid pattern on the sides looks good also.

What did you see on the road today?

Might be a SS want a be. Got the Hood and the grill emblem. Front fender has small block emblems and nothing on the rear panel. This is still a nice looking Chevelle anyway. -
DeTomaso Mangusta hillclimb car...

I love the sound of the engine as he works it up through the gear box. -
Beautiful shade of Blue. I remember seeing a lot of six tail light Corvettes years ago and removing the front Bumper was also a common modification. The Hood treatment is distinctive.
