Beautiful collection of Chevelles. No wonder they sold so any years ago. s.

Off to a great start. I always liked this body style.

My suggestion has to do with your window issues. I'm building a resin body of the '50 Oldsmobile fast back. The master was done by using the roof and trunk portion of your Chevrolet spliced into the Oldsmobile body. This morning I'm making the "glass" since the windshield is about all that can be used from the Oldsmobile kit. My first step was to give the glass something to help it center into the window opening. I used a couple of 3.2 mm angle pieces Plastruct glued inside the body to give positive mounting points. Using a bit of paper taped to the inside of the body I then drew the openings on the outside of the paper with a pencil. The paper can then be used as a templet for the window. I try to have at least 1/4th inch of over lap on the inside mounting. For the "glass" I'm using the clear plastic from the collar of a new dress shirt. There are several choices of glue, I use Aleene's Jewel-it from JoAnns Fabrics, but again there are many others you could use. Hope this can help.

I built a model of Rex's '62 Chevrolet years ago when AMT first offered the '62 Bel Air. The information at that time showed the interior was lightly modified with removal of the door panels being replaced with smooth metal and the factory gauges replaced with a flat panel to mount the gauges. Roll Bar of course and a single bucket type seat. In the '60 era I think they may of still been using the factory bench with the passenger seat back removed, some what like the Revell '57 Ford kit. They fenders were opened up and "pushed" out a little. I did this by heating the wheel opening over a 100 watt light bulb and massaged the fenders with my fingers. Gloves would be a smart addition to protect your fingers. With the open trunk on this kit it will be easier to detail that area also.

Both are great kits and have been popular with builders and I'm sure that's why they have been reissued. The '53 Ford F-100 is one of my favorites for many reasons. The options are many and I like the option of the Chevrolet rear fenders with the Corvette tail lights. There are Welding Tanks and lots of Tools . The additional Custom options can be used on other builds also. I had a good friend years ago who had a '53 and it was a great truck and that may also play with my feelings about the model.

'53 Jeep Wagon

Great looking Jeep. I like the color combo also. Most of these that I remember seemed to end up with a V-8 from somewhere else. The old Hurricane Six was ok if you were not in a hurry. -
Revell 1:25 Early Bronco

That does it, I'm going to get one of these. I like the pattern on the seat. -
Great looking build. I like the color and the way it contrasts with the interior. The body looks cleaner without all the extra trim.

Great looking Pro Street Mustang. You don't often see this model done this way. I bet that would be a hand full when you dropped the hammer.

I like your concept, this should be very interesting to follow. -
Outstanding build and I really like the color.

Beautiful collection and they are all very well done. I like the '57 & '58 those had to be hard kits to find. The demise of Oldsmobile and Pontiac are examples of what happens when a Car company has leaders who are not that into cars. For so many years GM just put parts in a blender and just put different names on the outcome. We have all seen how well that worked.

Looks great. I don't recall ever seeing this kit before. Very clean build.
-
Very impressive body work. I like the wheel flares and the splitter, the paint is really smoooooth. The hood scoop seems a little large until you see the injection system on the engine. Chassis detailing looks good also.
-
The interior looks great. The finish on the seats might be a little to shinny for leather or vinyl, maybe just a light dusting of semi-gloss ?? Very impressive wiring for the firewall. I like the decal on the oil filter also. For the foam on the Air Filter, there are many sources of material you could use. If you receive anything at home or work that has those very thin foam wrappings is one that comes to mind. Overall it looks like you have it coming together just fine. Look forward to seeing how the rest of this build comes together.

Maybe a nice letter to your Congressman explaining the problem with a time line and how long it took for the agency to react would help. Your Congressman probably isn't doing anything anyway and would welcome the opportunity to do something constructive to help one of their constituents back home.

Very well detailed. Are the paint blotches on the body sides part of the decals or hand done ?
-
Very nice. I agree with you on the custom grill. The small block looks like it really belongs there. I think the convertible top might fit a little better with some adjustments where it meets in the rear. Color really stands out.

I hope someone will have pictures to share from the show. Many of use don't get to attend but enjoy seeing what other builders are doing.
-
Some times it will take more than one application if the wash you're using is very thin. I have also used a flat edged tooth pick or even a pencil eraser to remove any unwanted paint on the grill.

Another '66 Suburban...

O Yah, That's the way I'd do it. I really like that style. -
Very interesting presentation, I don't think I have ever seen a build like this. Great idea.
-
Very nice looking. The colors set off the body lines well. This was from an era that GM couldn't seem to get enough chrome on their vehicles. I don't think that tail gate ever fit anyway so don't worry about it.
-
I like the color, but I also question the fit on the roof. Those wheels and brakes give it a very aggressive look.

Revell Ford Ranger OOB
espo replied to Simon's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Another great build. I like how you photograph your builds, it really adds to the realism. I think Ford called their beds Style Sides and most others such as GM called them Step Sides. The Red interior would not have been uncommon with the colors used.
