  1. Turned out beautifully. It would seem that the original builder couldn't makeup his mind as to what color he wanted. I don't think I've ever seen that thick of paint, O wait there is a restored '60 Ranchero here on the forum that may be close.
  2. Going to enjoy watching this build. I really enjoyed the Trans Am series years ago. In '69 and '70 I worked for Union Oil Company and one of my duties was to help at Riverside Raceway whenever there were races. I worked at the service station in the pits and got to see many of these cars up close, I should of had my camera.
  3. Your color combo looks great. I really like the way it sits.
  4. I have used the clear plastic that comes from around the neck of a new dress shirt. They are very thin and will bend if needed. There are many other sources around the house if you look for a while.
  5. I almost never make any purchases Wal Mart for this very reason. When I get to the checkout it seams as though at least one or two items never ring up as marked on the package or the display area. Can't prove if this is by design or just sloppy workers. Now with the proliferation of self checkout they can now say it was your error if you catch it. Now add your experience to how many other shoppers and you can see a great ripoff in action by Wal Mart. One of the local TV stations did a report last year on this very type of thing and Wal Mart was the biggest offender.
  6. Those valve covers are for real on GMC V-6 engines at that time. I used to have a Union 76 station years ago and had a customer who bought a new GMC truck. We were talking and knowing I was a gear head he said he had a big surprise for me. He then lifted the hood and we both had a good laugh at the valve covers. GMC did this to imply economy with the V-6. These were great torque engines, gas economy not so much.
  7. The top shouldn't be an issue and Revell has done this before on the '65 Chevrolet C-10. My belief is that it would enable them to add greater body detail. I would just snip off the metal axles in the front so that they only went into the spindle . I also look forward to getting several of these kits.
  8. I wonder how it would look without the vent windows ??
  9. Beautiful build. Are the doors functional or did you glue them shut ?? The color combo is perfect for that time period.
  10. Beautiful build. Just watched Mecum on TV this weekend and looks like a Nova they had at auction. I really need to try that color , it looks great.
  11. Very nice build. Just looks right. You might think about a "black wash" on the grill to give it a little more depth.
  12. Very clean build. Nice engine detailing, specially the fuel lines.
  13. Beautiful build, and you're correct it looks like a '40's type build. Very clean assembly and detailing. Surprised by the column shift.
  14. Very nice out of box. I like the Gulf livery idea.
  15. Very well built. I liked the Pearl White color. Nice chassis detailing.
  16. Glad to see this back on the bench. Have you finalized the body color or is it going to match the interior ??
  17. So much great craftsmanship here. You always make it look so easy.
  18. Great looking builds. I like that you tend to build them as they were when they were new.

    Aurora Dune Buggy

Just noticed your comment on unusual dune buggies. I was at the local Model Shop and they had a rerelease from Round 2 of the VW type I that had a shortened wheel base and the body area behind the door shortened as well. The kit offers several building options which included a shortened body pan with just roll bars and the option of sand tires and also slicks. It was originally kited by AMT. If you haven't seen this yet you might look on Round 2's web site to look at it.
  20. Great looking shelving unit. Some ideas to consider to help show your models. The lighting idea is good, but also consider painting the inside face of the cabinet a light color. This will make your models more visible. A light off white color in a semi gloss or even the color of your walls in the room. This will make the cabinet seem smaller. The glass covering is also a good idea to protect your models from young admirers.
  21. I always use Tamiya white primer unless I'm painting a very dark color. I have found that even on many darker colors seem brighter with the white base,.
  22. 30 years ago it would be uncommon for the parts to be bagged. As for the lose parts that could come about just by the handling of the box for the last 30 years plus shipping.
  23. As long as the blue paint you're using isn't to opaque, you might have a problem if you're using a gray or dark primer.

    Aurora Dune Buggy

I agree with all the others, this is a really neat build. The decals turned out perfect.

    33 FORDS

Great looking builds. I like the "Bomber Art" on the black V-12 coupe.
