  1. Looks really nice , more photos please !
  2. I like it , would have been a great short track car !!
  3. This absolutely works , been doing this for several years ! Anything to support your hand will help . Another trick I do is while hold the part with my left hand and the paintbrush in my right hand I actually rest both arms flat on the bench , this keeps both hand from shaking ! As for fixtures I can't use anything that elevates the part more than about 4 inches above my bench so I limit myself to just a small 2" vise and all kinds of clamps .
  4. Well done John , this is the nicest '62 I've seen !
  5. Some excellent fabricating going on here , not only your wood work but also the vacuformed rear cover looks great ! I mat have missed it but where did you source the engines ?

  11. Thanks David ! The kit engine is a scaled down Mercedes aircraft engine , here's some good info on it . . .
  12. Here's a scan of the original RRRRIP OFF decals . I have scans of all the originals and none of them have a grille or taillights .
  13. My favorite era of Monogram models and yours are among the best ! I have a copy of "Hot Rod Model Kits", lots of good stuff in there along with yours . Thanks for posting !
  14. Thanks Harry ! Thank you Chris ! Thanks much David ! I added the badge and base for the crosses to the helmet with .020" sheet plastic . After painting the helmet black I used BMF then added my own decals printed on clear decal paper .
  15. Great looking Satellite and you nailed the 70's look , love it !
  16. The first Red Baron I built was in 1968 , it was my first Tom Daniel kit and is still my favorite . This time around I wanted to maintain the out of box look but still add a few personal touches . I started by swapped the kit tires for ones from my parts box along with white letter decals from Fireball Modelworks , then I replaced the front axle with the poseable chrome parts from a Revell Street T kit . Lastly I modified the helmet by adding a skirt around the base and decorating it similar to a WWI German Helmet . Along with filling the seams and painting the fuel tank I added some gauges and pedals to the interior , the rest of the build is box stock . A little BMF on the console and some wash on the engine and machine guns is the only other detailing . The paint is Tamiya TS-85 Bright Red Mica and TS-14 Black , both topped with Tamiya TS-13 Clear . This was a quick build and I had some fun with it . I hope you like it and thanks for looking !

  21. Very well done Tim , your extra effort to correct the kits problems have really paid off ! Just correcting the hood makes all the difference in the world , along with the wheel openings and other details this is a first class build !
  22. That's part of Dave's Show Rod Rally by Dave Rasmussen , lots of good stuff to see at this link : http://www.showrods.com/home_page_links/home.html I'd start with "The Guest Gallery" if you're interested in what other people have built .
