  1. Well done Bob ! Nicely detailed and I really like the silver frame . . . and NO foil !
  2. Nice !! Your paint looks great !
  3. I have globaltoys as a saved seller but this morning nothing on ebay was working . Now it's all good and I see the script you're talking about , looks like it's the correct size so I'll order a set . Thanks !
  4. Thanks Rex , I've seen those but have only bought decals from globaltoy . I may get a set but right now the search function on ebay isn't working for me .
  5. Don't know about the accuracy and it doesn't matter , that's a neat looking submarine ! Nice job !
  6. Gorgeous '59 Luke ! As a certified El Camino fanatic (I've owned 1 '59, 2 60's, 1 '70, 1 '74, and 1 '82) I have to say that's the nicest "59 El Camino I've seen built , Congrats !
  7. Thanks again Nigel ! I've always wanted to try replicating the rubber gaskets but was always doubtful I could mask and spray the frames properly . A while ago I did it to spray some chrome trim and it worked okay so I went for it here .
  8. Sharp little MG Trevor , great paint and very nicely detailed especially the interior ! I've got a couple of the Aoshima kits and never cared for the one piece windshield/frame either . I'm currently converting one to an MGB-GT .
  9. Thanks Nigel ! I don't normally do any polishing since BMF doesn't stick very well to polished paints . Well I spent two days on what normally would have been a one or two hour job but the foil is finally finished , I guess I'm getting the hang of this new stuff but I still don't like it . I masked and sprayed the front and rear window gaskets with Tamiya TS-82 Rubber Black , then applied a thin strip of foil for the reveal molding . Not perfect but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out .
  10. That's pretty cool ! Is it oils or acrylic paint and who made it ?
  11. Red and Orange Sharpies , much thinner and easier to control than paint . Along with your choice of chrome or silver on the back if needed .
  12. Beautifully done John , love that blue paint and I'd say you've got the whole foil thing figured out ! I've super detailed interiors & engines and I've done quick easy ones too , when finished the only difference is the photos that get posted .
  13. Absolutely nothing wrong with a nearly box stock build , you've done an excellent job !
  14. Whoa those louvers are nice , great work Jim !
  15. Excellent work on the conversion , really love seeing this kind of work !
  16. Nice step-by-step photos Craig , looking forward to seeing your progress !
  17. A '68 Impala is the grail for a ton of us , great score ! Not a big lowrider fan but I'll follow your build because all 68's look great !
  18. Thanks for the info , I know very little about MGB's so I'm sure a lot of what I do won't be technically correct . The color I'm shooting for is Bronze Yellow so I repainted this morning with Brilliant Orange and it looks a lot better to me .
  19. I've checked everywhere I know of but just in case I missed it . . . are there photo-etch 428 Cobra Jet emblems available ?
  20. Thanks Trevor and Carl , I thought that yellow would be a little darker . Haven't decided yet but I might respray it with Brilliant Orange .
  21. Before prepping the body for paint I pre-fit the trim items , bumpers , lights , etc . . . The grille and cowl vent required a little filing on the back edges to make them fit flush , as did the rear bumper . I also removed the molded in plate lamps from the rear bumper , opting to keep the ones on the license plate mounting bracket . This plate mount is actually too large for U.S. plates so I'll be making a new one later . Also cut and fit the glass using the clear sheet provided by C1 Models . They say to use the thick sheet but I used the thinner one to be sure there is no interference with the dashboard . With some careful trimming the glass literally pops into place and stays with no glue , of course I'll glue them in place after paint . After the body was prepped it was painted with Tamiya TS-34 Camel Yellow . Once it dries for a couple days I'll shoot some clear .
  22. Thanks Eric !
  23. That really is a sharp looking blue , going to look great when it's done ! Interesting solution to the BMF issue . I'm guessing that you brushed the thinned glue onto the body , then applied the foil and let it dry before trimming ? Looks like it worked !
  24. I've got a MPC J-Car and an IMC GT40 both waiting to be built . It's been many years but I remember the IMC J-Car being much better , is that right ? Been looking for one and may get the one on ebay right now .
