Mascots
Eric Macleod replied to Howard Cohen's topic in 1:1 Reference Photos: Auto Shows, Personal vehicles (Cars and Trucks)
Just for fun I am going to take a crack at identifying these. Please correct me for the sake of accuracy. From the top they adorn: 31 Buick 90 35 Cadillac Minerva (unknown year) Pontiac (about 1935) Bugatti Royale (the Henry Ford Museum car) Duesenberg J (Derham Tourster, J 431?) 47 Cadillac 57 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser (the Parfet car?) 31 Cadillac 31 Chrysler Imperial 34 Packard 41 Cadillac 31 Cadillac 37 Packard 31 Cadillac 41 Packard Darrin 39 Graham 30 Cadillac 33 Cadillac V 16 (Jeff Ozans car?) 30 Cadillac 35 Cadillac 3t Cadillac 37 Cadillac 32 Franklin 41 Packard Rolls Royce Rolls Royce So how did I do? Oh, and gor the record, no I was not able to attend the show this year; didn't have a car ready). -

I agree, though that would require tooling up more full classics...something that seems unlikely these days. On the other hand, one of the cars photographed here is the best of show sharknose Graham Cabriolet owned by the Off Brothers of Hickory Corners. It is currently being tooled up by Automodello as a resin cast model, so there's hope for that one. Howard, do you ever go to Old Car Festival in Greenfield Village? I must assume that you are local also? Great photos! -
David, you never fail to impress me with your models. This will be interesting to see as you progress.

These are fabulous. I especially like the crisp appearance of the stock '32.
-
Oh my! Absolutely fabulous model of a most worthy subject. I am most impressed!
-
I enjoyed the build as well. Very nice clean model. I would be very proud to display this one!
-
That's really neat. I wasn't sure what to expect when I opened this thread, gasser, pickup, jeep? You didn't disappoint!
-
I agree with the others. I especially like the photo in your diorama, which could easily pass for a photo of a 1:1. I'd proudly display this at home and would consider it my best model ever!

A lot of cars of the late 20s had a simple linoleum running board covering trimmed in either aluminum or chrome. That would be a simple, elegant and correct solution.
-
This is clearly the RIGHT color for the model. Nicely done.
-
All I say is wow. This sure puts an exclamation point on the word ambiguous, but your execution is flawless. Nicely done.

No matter what you do with it, this kit builds into a nice model. I like yours a lot!

This car won the "triple crown " with best of show honors at Auburn, Meadowbrook and Pebble Beach the year it was finished for Terry Adderley (I think Brian Joseph actually restored the car). The car is currently displayed in my back yard, at the Gilmore Car Museum so I am fortunate to be able to visit it. Like the others, I think your wheel treatment it outstanding, as is the rest of your fabulous model. I have this kit on my shelf. You've inspired me to get busy with it.

You amaze me more every time I look at your photos. Fabulous work here!

I too am in this position. How much money can go into models when I have an expensive couple of cars in the garage too. Just curious, what are you getting?
-
So this is going to be a Packardberg? I like where you are going. It has the looooong lines of the Packard 745. Nice.
-
I really like your Chrysler. These are my kind of models!

I will be joining those who follow along. I have built both the diecast metal anf the plastic versions. The plastic is my preference only because the metal was so heavy it caused the axles to bend over time. Good luck with this.

I like it, and the story. I don't share the dislike for Testors paint but then again my model building skills are not as good as yours! Nice model overall. -
Nothing not to like here. I really like that windshield.
-
I really like what you are doing with this one. As you have already found, no doubt, this is a great kit.

This is a model I've always wanted to build so I'll be interested to see what you come up with.
