  1. Here (I hope) is the link to my 26-27 build thred.
  2. I went ahead and posted my Thomas. The idea of using a Franklin Mint Rolls (or the Franklin Mint Packard would work too) is a very good one. I'll look forward to seeing yours.
  3. Many years ago I had a notion of building a Thomas Flyer Touring. I used the AMT kit along with fenders from a MPC Darracq, back seat from a Model T and a whole variety of other model parts from my parts box. In response to a question in Dominick's recent Stutz Bearcat post I thought I'd share this. Having it to do over I'd probably adapt the Stutz fenders to this model and I would do the seats differently. That being said, this was a good reflection of my skillset at the time. Hope you like it.
  4. I replied in the WIP but it's worth chiming in here too. This is one of my favorite builds posted recently. While I had some doubts during the WIP process, you absolutely nailed this one. Fabulous in every way.
  5. Absolutely stunning model. I have several Bugatti models and will be using yours as a reference. Just magnificent.
  6. Ooo la la. Make me a third Mercer buyer. I have done a stock Thomas Flyer in the past. Just for fun I'll post it separately. This is another great model. Very well done.
  7. This is my kind of model. You definitely nailed it. Great colors and quality assembly. Love it.
  8. And to you as well.
  9. The "bring out your dead " thread has inspired me to go ahead and wrap this one up. Several things were not coming out as I'd planned but as we say in the real car restoration world, if its a job worth doing, it's worth doing twice. So, here is the torn down remains of the car as it it tonight.
  10. Absolutely. Fabulous. Nothing not to like. I would have picked it as a winner also!
  11. Good one. I like it. Great use of a junker. Well done.
  12. I don't know if I would call this one a long stalled project but decided it was the model closest to the finish line. I was frustrated with a wheel that is way out of alignment thus spoiling the look of the model. I found a spare axle so will get the project back on task. Here is the rough progress as it is today. You can see the odd angle to the wheel but with a new front axle it should be better.
  13. A real 1:1 and some dolt hot rodded it? Hmmm....so you take a $2,000,000 car in stock form, hot rod it (probably replacing the 285 BHP Strait 8 engine with a boring 350 SB) and turn it into a $300,000 car. Very, very smart. NOT. Let's pray to the Gods of authenticity that it was a replica. Okay...now I feel better.
  14. That sure looks the part. Nicely done.
  15. I was downstairs looking over the prospects. Right now I am down to a Model T centerdoor, a 80% done Duesenberg, a very toy-like Rambler or (and it would be a hail Mary) a 41 Lincoln coupe. I'll try to get some photos up soon.
  16. I too will join...now what to pick?
  17. Now this is my kind of car. You have captured the spirit of the era. Very nice.
  18. I like it. I never thought of vaseline as a mask but the idea makes good sense. I'll be watching this with great interest. The little Franklin Mint Ghost skiff in the background is one of my Holy Grails.
  19. I love the color. There was a Hudson featured in a book by Henry Rasmussen years ago in this same color scheme. You've really nailed it with this one.
  20. Striking is an understatement. It's coming to life!
  21. Very nice. How accurate do you wand them though?
  22. One thought about the engine turned finish. How close are you with your dentist? They might have something, or access to something that would work.
  23. This is real craftsmanship...and real patience!
  24. I agree with the others. I completed the only full set of the 26-27 cars I have ever seen. Yours, however is vastly superior in quality. I know first hand what it must have taken to build these. Well done sir!
  25. I look forward to an update on this as well. A couple local collectors have 1:1 versions of these and they are pretty magnificent in person. Keep us posted.
