  2. I think i have 2 maybe 3 of the 64s .
  3. got them cleaned off this afternoon. Turned out pretty good using the pointed swabs Steve mentioned ...only i used laquer thinner. Will snap off a picture later. Headed to daughters soccer game now
  4. Agreed, In person it looks a little different than my PC monitor shows it to actually be ( especially out in the sun ). But even then I think its off a tad. But I'm going to live with it as is . Going out today to pick up some paint for the interior and some Tamiya conical swabs,,,,I've got my fingers crossed I get the emblems to come out right
  5. Thanks ,,,,,, I wasn't 100% sure who made it. ( I don't have the original box ) Will update the thread
  6. Its Tamiya white primer , wet sanded with 1000 grit. I then had the base coat paint mixed locally. My goal is to replicate the OE color called Maple Leaf ( or vintage burgundy depending on where you look ) I'm not 100% completely convinced they mixed it to dead on color match ,,,but It looks awfully close in person compared to pics I found online. This is just in base coat, once I do the emblems I'll top it off with a few coats of Upol urethane clear . Then let it sit a week or so and go at it with my polishing pads and some rubbing compound . Any comments good or bad are welcome, I'm a big boy and can take it if you see something I don't.
  7. I picked this one up last winter as a future project. And once I saw a 1/1 pic of the car in I had to move it to the front of the line this winter. ( I dont build much in the summer months ) So in late summer / fall I paint maybe a half dozen bodies in prep for winter indoor activities. This is one of 4 I have in process at the moment There was nothing to add BMF to along the base of the windshield so I've added strips along the perimeter of the opening for the lower trim mldg and then stacked some small strips to give some added depth for the wiper blades. Also gonna try the BMF under the paint for the emblems one more time and see how it works on this one. 1st my inspiration for the project .
  8. Hope you dont mind me picking on it ( its all in good fun believe me ) But correct the oil dipstick is correct on the outside of the exhaust manifold for 1969 and older.
  9. Bought my most recent one at Hobby Lobby. using a 40% discount put it right in line with buying it online pricing if you include postage
  10. Dont look now..but your ignition coil is on backwards......sorry hqd to say it. While im at it. The valve.cover breather should be chrome
  11. same here. Ive got a few old annuals that would look killer with one of these in tow
  12. So far so good. Not exactly the easiest kit to build. I built one maybe 10 years ago and want to do another someday to replicate the very 1st incarnation of the truck .
  13. Buy a bunch of the plain white Promo boxes , wrap each and every one in toilet paper and one per box . Then pack them in lager packing boxes or crates. You can get the boxes from Uline or similar for about a $ 1 each
  14. Very Nice. I have an original MPC builtup in the pile. And I think you just gave me my color choice for when I get to it .
  15. Did this car end up being the stretched long nose car,. or were they 2 different cars?
  16. Had some paint mixed up this afternoon. For a 1960 Lincoln build.....called Maple Leaf
  17. agreed i buy for the contents ...not the box
  18. thanks, gotta get me one of these
  19. Stopped in the one in Florence KY, A LOT of lindberg police cars and military stuff ( not interested in any of them ) But I did snag 2 each of the 66 Olds 442's and the Sock It To Me Corvette. That was all they had of the 2 . None of the Kalitta mustangs to be found
  20. Sweet, I sure would like to find one ,as well as a 65 Fury convertible . But they always go for more then my budget will allow
  21. I get the opinions on the 68 RR kit. And I know its not perfect but its the only game in town for a 68. Do i wish it was better? sure but I'm not going to lose sleep over it either. IMO, it builds into a pretty decent example once in the case. But for me personally I'm a model builder not a model kit redesigner. And I might be way off base here,,,,,,,but sometimes I wonder if the suggest retail price these kits sold for when 1st produced was a factor with how much work they put into development time ( I have a bunch of them with a price tag of $4.99 ) I'm sure development time is a factor to think about from the very beginning when a kit is being designed considering a selling price once on the shelf . In regards to the Revell 67 Coronet / GTX kit. I saw a thread a while back showing how easy it was to fix with a very minimal slice in the rear quarter. Which I will do once I get to one in the stash As far as the Johan Super Bird kit mentioned. you are correct the nose should be smooth across the top side, but once decals are placed on it you really cant tell.
  22. Oh yes very nice. Is this the mpc car. When did it loose the 500 rear window?
  23. Im going to have to hit the local one here this weekend. I could use a few of the Kalitta mustangs, might even grab the sock it to me Vette and the couple of the 66 Cutlass just for grins
  24. Try Michaels http://www.michaels.com/search?q=display cases
  25. Thats because most of them were worn out , The wood grain was most definitely there when new but thin . I've had a few nos ( still have 1 actually )
