Body Badges, Insignias and Lettering
gtx6970 replied to ratherbefishin's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Same here. for 2 reasons, 1st - most of what I build are old annuals most of the time they've been painted and stripped at least once, sometimes several times. SO the emblems are not as crisp as a modern kit allowing me to do the few coats of paint then foil method. 2nd - I use rattle cans 99 % of the time ( which Im sure plays a part in my method ) and this method helps hide the edge of the foil , so to speak -
I believe the paint code is T7 Just for grins . ..... the above and this one are pictures of the same car. As Found in a Canadian junkyard There were a total of 3 1970 Hemi Coronet RT convertibles. This one, Sold new in Canada , there was a FJ5 limelight one, sold new in Switzerland .( imported back into the US maybe early 90s timeframe. ) Then a 3rd one produced/sold for the US market , that one is unaccounted for as far as I know

Decals - 1964 Hayden Proffitt Yeakel Plymouth
gtx6970 replied to jjsipes's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I believe it was MCW made them for this car as well. ( no idea if accurate or not ) BUT it required a resin body purchase to get them , I said no thanks. I'm still wanting to know what the decal on the decklid said . Ive never found a clear picture to show that area If you find them to do either the 1964 max wedge hardtop and/or the Hemi sedan , PM me. I would like them as well ps, I "THINK ' the decals you have would work for the 63 Plymouth . Ive yet to find a color picture of this car but IMO the letter is all white -
WOW, , just seems so mediocre But, WOW,

yes it does. I have a built Chevy2 and compared it to a builtup Chevelle I have here I almost think the chevy 2 interior tub will work in the malibu body. Might have to do some work on the pkg tray area at the most wheelbase between the 2 is dead on identical

Windsheild frame repair
gtx6970 replied to fordf-100's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
In 1.25th scale the difference will be minimul at best...if at all. I would take a look at the amt 1969 gtx conv kit. -
If I see a build that appears well done. I'll comment . If I see issues , especially blatant ones . I just keep any and all comments to myself. No worries about said slippery slope so to speak. Even though I think most people can and are willing to accept minor critiques. Momma always told me, cant say something nice, say nothing at all

Looks killer. Ive been wanting to build this car myself. Never thought about using thw cougar chassis and stock amt body. You given me an idea i cant get out of my head . Ive no real interest to build a stock comet. And have a bunch of amt cougar funnycar kits i can use for chassis . Did you use the cougar int tins ? -
Looking good

I had thought about replacing the decals with after market. But.....just cant bring myself to pull it apart. I've got maybe 4 or 5 more builds. Similar condition that will most likely remain as is(all old drag cars ) My appologies to the op for taking the original post way off track .

Tough call. My 1st thought is use the current 71 and make it really nice / accurate replica . BUT....... I got lucky and managed to pick up a real clean built car a couple years ago. As I was giving some serious thoughts to build one from the current 71 Duster . Now,,,,I have serious doubt I'll ever take this apart and do anything to upgrade it. Its survived this long I would feel bad to take it apart now

1970's Uni body construction
gtx6970 replied to rob1957's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Grey primer on the floor with some body color over-spray along the outer edges, more in the inner wheel house areas. undercoating then sprayed in the wheel house areas. rear axle suspension stuff with be a semi gloss black rear axle , leaf springs will be either bare metal or black . gloss black front lower K frame , the front suspension is mostly bare steel shocks are a low gloss black both ends -
That's a pretty interesting configuration. I know Chrysler tried mechanical FI systems in 1958 , Chevrolet had it in 1957 , Think Cadillac ( or was it Pontiac ) tried it as well in the late 50s. Corvettes had it again what was it 1963 or 64 ? Wasn't aware anyone tried it again till late 70s - early 80s time frame.
