Ollie's strike again

We hit the Ollie’s in Kokomo IN yesterday.  I didn’t bother with a pic because models were scattered in about 3-4 places.  Nothing special there, but they did still have a case of the Rupp dragster snowmobile.  I picked one up to add to the stash.  Never had one before.

My first trip to Ollie’s in Overland Park, Ks., which I think might be the only one in the area. Very limited selection but I came home with a Monogram Dodge Vioer to add to my collection.

Stopped in the Pottstown PA Ollie’s yesterday.  They had a few of the Coke trailers, Monopoly 34 Willys van snappers and a couple D50s.  Left empty handed.

I can’t make out the price stickers.  Are they all marked $19.99?

Nothing really got my attention on those selections of model kits.

Why bump up prices to $20????  Not the deal they were @$13.........Or like a few in my stash with $6.99 Ollite's stickers!!!

If the price is $20 maybe Ollie's feel they were leaving money on the table. It will definitely curb those who buy the kits to resell. And they are still cheaper than the going rate.

At the one near me, the prices were $20 but went down to $13 for the car kits.

Nope.  I can zoom in and see the auto kits are tagged at $12.99, just like everywhere else.

For what it's worth, I have seen some variation in pricing at my store.  Before they sold out, I managed to find some '64 Galaxies priced at $9.99.  Think it must have been a staff mistake, since there were also Galaxies priced at $12.99 on the same shelf.

I saw an ad on TV this morning, announcing that we're getting two Ollie's locations here finally.  

[edit] I looked up online to see where the stores would be and discovered that we already had one location.  I went by and they didn't have much, but for 12.99 I went ahead and grabbed the Manx and the 72 Chevy truck.

Hope you will not be disappointed when you discover the truck is molded in red, at least the one left at my local Ollie's was.

How’s the steering wheel in your truck kit?  Mine was badly bent.  I contacted Round 2 for a replacement and they said ALL of the kits they had to pull parts from were bent.  They couldn’t send me one.

It’s not ideal but I’ll probably just use it for parts.  I mostly got it for the Coke machine.

I didn’t notice but I can work around it if I need to.

My local Ollie’s has the Mail truck, Nova wagon, ‘41 Plymouth, Surf Shark, and a couple others I can’t recall what they were.

I'm working near the Hiawassee Ollie's again. Still a decent variety, several Rat Fink trucks, mail trucks, short bugs, etc. But still no vans.

I've been watching what different Ollie's has from what people have been posting. I see these Classic Cruisers Monogram/Revell kits such as the 56 Chevy and 69 Camaro. These were the Re-package kits by Ollies. (The Ollie's price tags were under the clear plastic) Recently my son picked up an AMT 63 Impala (the ones that Wal-Mart had awhile back.) Our local Ollie's had a single case of the Impalas with the custom body, he picked up the last one they had. I'm just wondering what other unique kits are out there... the Camaro is cool.

Is that Camaro a recent addition to ollie's? 

I know this is by no means one of the the better camaro kits, but it brings back a flood of memories for me.

I'd buy that Camaro if it were available locally, the wheels & tires are pretty cool.
