Art Anderson Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 That's been gone a LONG time--it went away with the bankruptcy of Lesney, who owned AMT at the time (1981). I did the box art model you see in the artwork you posted, along with a "custom version" in red & black, in early 1980.Art Anderson

pack rat Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 I did the box art model you see in the artwork you posted, along with a "custom version" in red & black, in early 1980.Art AndersonHaving recently studied the box art Casey posted, I compliment you on a job well done, Art.For this reissue, Round2 is planning to re-create the Lesney-era box, which is to include a model built to resemble yours (although I believe the gold striping may differ).
martinfan5 Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Neat that they are reissuing this one, I have the 90's issued one still to build so I will be passing this one up.
jefropas Posted November 28, 2016 Posted November 28, 2016 Awesome, now I can build the Florida Highway Patrol confiscated car they used on limited patrol... Jeff
RickRollerLT1 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) Wonder if it'll still include the custom option (body kit, ducktale wing, etc) from Matchbox Street Machine issue, which was also carried over to the 1990s reissue?Since the MPC Datsun monster truck is out, lets hope the 82 Celica isn't too far down the line. Mark Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 The Nissan dealer I drive past on the way home from work had a 280ZX on their lot, in front of the showroom just last week. It was gold metallic, looked like it was a really clean unrestored piece. I can't imagine the expense that would be involved in restoring one, probably way more than you could ever expect to get for it. I didn't see a price on the windshield, maybe they just had it there as an attention-getter.
charlie8575 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Waiting for this to come out. I suspect it'll be a pretty good seller.Charlie Larkin
Chevydave331 Posted November 29, 2016 Posted November 29, 2016 Very Nice! Have an original that i "ruined" by trying to convert it to a hard top. cant wait to to get another try to replicate my car
Rob Hall Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Never had either release of this one, so I'll probably get one...
unclescott58 Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 I have a soft spot for the ZX from that time period. I like original 240Z better. But the ZX was cool for the time.
Reeves Racing Posted December 1, 2016 Posted December 1, 2016 I am using one of these (original issue off eBay) and the sad Air Fix kit to build Paul Newman's race car.
stavanzer Posted June 10, 2017 Posted June 10, 2017 I'm waiting for this kit, to make to Hobby Lobby. I need one to go with my Opel GT, and Mazda RX-7. Will make a great set of Road Burners.
oldcarfan Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 (edited) I'm hoping it hits Hobby Lobby shelves as well. I haven't seen the Datsun Pickup, Opel GT or the RX7 there. Are they out yet and is HL carrying them? Here's hoping Monogram will reissue their Datsun 260Z also. Edited June 11, 2017 by oldcarfan
SSNJim Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 (edited) Just saw the 280ZX on the shelf today at my LHS (along with the RX7 they've had for a couple of weeks), but not at Hobby Lobby. Hobby Lobby did have the Foose pickup that my LHS still hasn't gotten. Edited June 11, 2017 by SSNJim
stavanzer Posted June 11, 2017 Posted June 11, 2017 LHS has the RX-7, I had to mail order the Opel GT. Good Luck.
Casey Posted November 1, 2018 Author Posted November 1, 2018 Maybe next time the custom parts can be included. We can do without the dry transfer graphics though.
randyc Posted November 1, 2018 Posted November 1, 2018 I built one last year for a guy. Comes out pretty nice. I did replace the wheels and tires with some aftermaket style wheels and tires. May have been the ones from Revell 70 Cuda. I don't remember. Builds nicely and if your interests lie in that area, won't be as disappointing when finished and hard to build as the Revell 240Zs. I thought those were pretty darn fiddly.
