Well, it finally happened to me. My pictures are disappearing from PB.If they had decided to charge, I don't know, maybe $9.95 a year I probably would have gone with it, but as slow as PB has always been when I did use it, maybe not. As far as I can tell I still have all my pictures on the computer so I didn't lose anything. It is mainly the annoyance of having to learn a new process because some moron decided to PharmaBro the site. What seems to be the best option?

I've had a paid account with Fotki since 2000 or 2001. Never had the problems that I have seen with Photobucket.

The days of free things like this are over. Fotki is a good host. Price is fair.

Fotki seems to  work very well............................and no cost

OOOOPS! My bad..............I meant Flickr. I have signed up to Flickr, no cost............yet, and it works fine, FAR faster than PB.

All pics are on my hard drive.  I still update PB for some reason and opened a new Flickr account so I could post pics here on the forum.

All my photos from my phone are synced to iCloud.   But for posting to forums, I sometimes put them in my Fotki account.   But mostly I just post photos to Facebook.

Even I have finally paid for an account at fotki, $24 per year is far cheaper than the $399 Photobucket wants.

What are the pros and cons of Google?

I'm using it, but haven't put enough pictures there to find all the nuances. It's super-simple and fast to upload and download. That part I like.

I've switched to ImageShack, a freebie for the first 30 days, but I'll start paying at the end of that 30 days, as that seems to be the way to go for me, for now. $37.99/year, which seems decent to me, given the overall flexibility.

Jim,

On July 1st Dave Ambrose post this thread...

You can just upload photos to the forum from your files on your PC no need for 3rd party hosting site.

Now if you need hosting site for other reasons that's another story.... I hope this helps:)

another Fotki fan... been with them at least a decade.  Sign up for the first year.  They will have special offers during the year where you can sign up for longer term at a reduced cost.  When that happens I generally re-up for the next five years.

I've been with Fotki since 2004, and I can't think of any issues 'cept for the time they were moving their servers. During the move, the site was down a lot, but since then no difficulties unless they're down for some maintenance which is infrequent.

$24 a year for unlimited linking of your pics, and I find them very user friendly. I had a PB account, but haven't used them for literally years as I never liked their layout, and those intrusive ads were too much to take.

I tries that once Dave and it didn't work for me, or more likely, I didn't do it correctly.  That's when I went to Flickr.

If Flickr is free, what is my advantage paying Fokti $24/year? I'm not opposed to paying such a reasonable sum. But just what is the difference?

I only use my photos on the forum I'm posting them to. So I like the idea of having the photo hosted here for the posts I create here.  And now we can do just that.  Of course I have all my photos on my PC and also 2 copies of backups.
