Not sure how rare it is , But I started with a near mint unbuilt kit

My guess would be that it's not terrifically rare, albeit it has certainly become much more difficult to find and exceedingly more expensive in recent years.

I'm not entirely certain about the convertible, but the hard top version was re-released in the early 60s as a "Junior", snap style kit, which would cut into the '59 Edsel's overall rarity.

This one was built from the "Trophy Series" kit.

I have several old original kits in the stash, but the ones that were hardest to acquire are the Renwal Revival kits I have. Still looking for an affordable Jordan Playboy kit and an affordable Pierce Arrow kit.

I do have two of the MPC '65 Dodge Monaco kits and a '65 Dodge 880 convertible kit, among other original unbuilt kits. Not really sure how rare any of these are, but it took years to get ahold of them.

The MPC ‘65 Dodges are quite rare, and have been for a long time.

My guess is that the 880 convertible is considerably more difficult to acquire than the Monaco, and it seems that the MPC ‘66 full sized Dodges even more so.

This is the MPC ‘65 Monaco that I built some years back.

I have a ‘66 Monaco rebuilder that I would like to restore at some point as well.

I watched you construct that Dodge, and pulled mine down from the shelf a few times during that period! LoL Too many ongoing projects kept me from actually starting one.

I think most of the 59 hardtops were Re-released in snap or craftsman series kits. But as far as I know the convertibles were one and done with exception to a 59 Ford Sunliner ( molded in yellow version )

I've only got a couple and they are rare only because of low production numbers.  A couple of Fisher Porsche 917LH kits along with a Jaguar D-type (all now irreplaceable) and a Studio27 Dodge Viper GT and a Rennaissance Aston Martin DB9R.  I haven't built them as I'm not confident enough with my abilities to do them justice.  Yes, they're all curbsides but just the same.....

I just bought one of those '71 Cyclones a week or so ago.  Nothing built, body and interior are brush painted and should clean up nicely once I get some new stuff to put in the dunk tank.  The '71 annual kit never included the stock striping (the '70 annual did), good thing the Model King issue stock car has it on its decal sheet.

I never pursued a ‘58 Edsel annual due to the new AMT Pacer, but I did build the ‘60 annual hardtop as well.

I am building this at the moment - rare to Americans as it was made in New Zealand by Tonka. We know these releases as NZ-AMT down here. I picked it up as a started kit and it has some parts missing. I have been able to get most of everything as I have a couple of incomplete built ups in my parts bins

image.thumb.jpeg.2cb6a5d3cc90442d0c647453270995af.jpeg

It was part of this catalogue available late 69 through 70

image.thumb.jpeg.ceb3a03996fa9d57413ba403986eba1a.jpeg

Of those I have built the following

Surf-n-Go - two built and smashed now in parts bin and the one under construction

32 Phaeton - 1 in bits and one rebuilt and under glass

27 T Hillbilly Hot Rod - under glass

37 Chev Convert - under glass

56 Ford - rebuilt and under glass

57 Ford - smashed and in parts bin

Mod Rod - one built as fendered roadster and one as an updated Ala Kart and at least one in the stash

Double drag team - one pirated for parts and one unbuilt in the stash

I have bits and pieces of a few more as I have scored a few parts boxes over the years

I also have a couple that were built by my brother but they are broken and live in the parts bin

Super Stang

Grave Yard duo

Long Nose Mustang

There was later NZAMT release but I will need to dig that info out

suspension parts from this kit work....also if you have a spare chassis platform, combine them to get the correct wheelbase for the Cyclone...
