iBorg Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I'm almost at the point where I'll be able to hook up my paint booth. As such I need to either put the booth on a table or taller legs. Do you find you get better results sitting or standing?
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 (edited) I guess I never really thought about it much, but I stand. I find that I need to move around too much while painting to be sitting still. Steve Edited November 20, 2018 by StevenGuthmiller

Ironman63 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I'm with Tom and Steve. I just can't sit and do a decent job.
Miatatom Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 Sometimes I can't get a decent paint job standing or sitting. Haven't tried lying down yet. Mike, why not build it so you can remove the legs easily and decide which way you like it.
Snake45 Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 I try to avoid stanfding whenever possible. I've gotten pretty good at it. In fact, it's possible I have NEVER stoofd.
Ich_Will Posted November 20, 2018 Posted November 20, 2018 My booth is too low to do either comfortably. Kneeling is awful. Lol

Xingu Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I stand/lean. I have a drafting stool at my bench that I use so I am in between fully standing and sitting at normal chair height.
martinfan5 Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I stand, but sitting does not sound like a bad idea now
cowboy rich Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I'm part of the standing group, I also move around a lot with airbrush or rattle can.

peter31a Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 My spray booth area was designed with sitting to paint in mind. But I now find I prefer to stand which now means bending over to do the painting.

espo Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 My standing has as much todo with my Paint Booth location. I have what would be the equivalent of a one car garage under our home that is used for garden equipment and mowers. I have set aside a shelving unit near the exterior door to throw the exhaust hose from the Spray Booth and the Air Compressor shares the same shelve along with the Dehydrator for drying.
iamsuperdan Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Depends what I'm doing. If I'm spraying an entire body, I'll stand. I just find I can move around the body and get better views of all sides and surfaces if I have the mobility of standing. Having said that, if I'm doing finer detail work, I'll sit.
Tom Geiger Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 I stoofd... that's a combination of standing and stooping. I have a home made spray booth that is sitting on a table in my model room. It's at a bad height. I am in the process of changing around some of the furniture in my model room, so I will be swapping in a taller piece, an old microwave cart, so I'll be at counter height for standing. I may just splurge and get myself a real spray booth for Christmas.
Snake45 Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Just realized, I do all my airbrushing sitting, but all my rattlecanning standing. And I simply can't imagine doing either the other way.
935k3 Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 My spray booth and area were designed to sit and I sit.
MrObsessive Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 To echo what Dale said, I definitely sit. My paint booth sits on one of my work tables and it requires me to sit. In fact, I literally just finished painting my Corvette resto a half hour ago and I sat the whole time. Like Snake said however, if I'm rattlecanning something (like red oxide primer on a chassis), I'll stand to do that as I'll usually paint outside if it's a nice day. I'd love to one day get a stand-up painting booth with full ventilation (we had one where I used to work). It would be kinda nice to have free range of motion when painting and not restricted to a cube------albeit somewhat large like my paint booth.
GeeBee Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Sitting, I have to stand up to do my work, so I'm sure not going to do it for my hobby.
peteski Posted November 21, 2018 Posted November 21, 2018 Stand, because there is nothing to sit on in the area where I airbrush.
