Matt Bacon Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Built from Airfix's venerable 1/32 kit, first issued when the car itself was new. best, M. 2
peekay Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Matt, that is really impressive. I don't think I've ever seen that kit built so nicely.
64Comet404 Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Looks like a really clean build, Matt. I really should start building my stash of Airfix cars.
bbowser Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 That's cool! My dad had a TR-4 convertible as his daily driver when I was a kid, loved that car.
Curt Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Beautiful job, Matt! Makes me miss the ‘65 1:1 we had...
Safire6 Posted March 31, 2019 Posted March 31, 2019 Nice that the surrey top came with the soft and hard top options. Nice color choice too-Wedgewood blue?
Funkychiken Posted April 1, 2019 Posted April 1, 2019 Great build, I'm guessing they are after market write wheels?
Matt Bacon Posted April 2, 2019 Author Posted April 2, 2019 Thanks, guys. @Funkychiken The wheels are actually resin inserts for slot car wheels, from RS Slot Racing: http://www.rsslotracing.com/parts.htm I took the dreadful "wire" centres out of the kit rims, fitted in the resin pieces, and glued plastic card discs painted steel on the back of the wheel to provide something to mount onto the axle (the resin wires are fragile and the fit is a little loose, so I didn't want them to be holding the wheel onto the car...) best, M.
Gluebomber Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 Nice Work, Matt! You really got the most out of that little kit.
1959scudetto Posted April 2, 2019 Posted April 2, 2019 very nice, Matt - if someone could only come out with an 1/24 kit of the TR 4 (
Tommy124 Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 (edited) Nice build! It looks like you used thin solder wire or something similar as a chrome trim? Maybe make a little "cut" into that where the front fender and door are separated by the door crack/ panel line? Edited April 3, 2019 by Tommy124
vintagercr Posted April 3, 2019 Posted April 3, 2019 Great looking TR4A. I vintage raced a '62 TR4 in the 80's
JPL-ACE Posted January 14, 2023 Posted January 14, 2023 Man that is super nice and only 1/32. I had for a year or 2 in my youth, a TR-4 but I put American mags with 7 inch racing tires (illegal on street as kids are prone to do). So your skinny tires looks strange to me, correct as they may be. Funny how we perceive things. Great work.
