larman Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 I know people are going nuts for this one and it's from a show (which I don't watch) so there will be a lot of TV collectors after it, but I would much rather have a 2 door Bel Air or Biscayne. Hope this might open the door for that. The 67/68 427 2 door is one of the most wicked and overlooked performance cars of the muscle era.

So, new grille and nameplate, new parking light housings, and new/additional bumper guards. Assuming new rim panel and bumper guards on the rear bumper, too. Yes, rear bumper guards too and a modified trim panel. However, the rear bumper guards are separate parts, unlike the fronts which are molded onto the bumper.

Goose1957 Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 Thank you for bringing the topic back, even if you need to delete some of the comments that were throwing it off track. Jeff
MrObsessive Posted May 21, 2020 Posted May 21, 2020 This looks good from where I sit................? I'm sooo glad they fixed those rear fenders on the four door! One of my pet peeves of the two door hardtop and why I never went ahead and built mine. Hmmm.........someday I might get an extra one of these and do the 'ole roof swap.
unclescott58 Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 (edited) I just can not get excited over this kit. Because from what I've seen it can not be built showroom stock. All it would have taken was to throw in a set of stock wheels or wheel covers, and I'd be all over this kit. I'm sure Round 2 is going to sell a carp load of these kits to fans of the TV show, and guys who modify their cars anyhow. But just by the missing shock wheels/wheel covers will not be seeing me buy this one. Edited May 22, 2020 by unclescott58

'67 wheel covers might be hard to find, but Rally Wheels would be correct for this car and correct '67 Rally Wheels can be found in common Revell '67 Chevelles and Corvettes, so that's not a deal-breaking problem.

And the '67 Rally Wheels in the AMT '67 Impala 2dr...the 5-spoke wheel covers from the Lindberg '66 Chevelle would be good also, I think they were an optional wheel cover in '67.

According to this, you're right! Good call!
Rob Hall Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 Interesting how the brochure refers to the full size models simply as 'Chevrolet'...technically, they are all Chevrolets...

But, would they look good on a 4-door? The Rallys and 5-spokes maybe "correct." But, neither one is something I'd associate with a 4-door Impala at the time. Good suggestions though.

Commonly seen by most auto makers at the time. The full size car line is considered the "true" brand name line. This goes for everybody at the time that I can remember, other than AMC.
Muncie Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 Rally wheels on Impala or Caprice were 15x7. They were the disc brake wheel - required for brake clearance - if am Impala had Rally wheels, it also had disc brakes. Standard steel wheels were 14", 14x6 on the wagons. 14" wheels would only fit drum brakes.

Hate to see someone turn the kit down over not having stock wheels. Really doesn't matter in a factory stock build if it was common or not. Just that a option was offered.

Thank you for the offer, but it's a bit too early yet. Is the kit even out? And even with proper wheel covers, I'm not in rush on this one. Though I will keep your offer in mind if and when the time comes Lee. Thank you.
Dave Van Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 I bet someday we will get a more bone stock version with maybe base model wheel covers.......... You do not want to psy licending for a TV show thats gone forever.......unless your Trek!!!! But there are still TREK versions on TV now......

espo Posted May 22, 2020 Posted May 22, 2020 I don't like the Bumper Guards either, but that isn't going to stop me from buying one of these.

One of our neighbors had a new Caprice wagon with rally wheels on it. I think they are one of the best factory wheels, along with the Magnum 500.
