Nice!  I know this is very old school, and possibly apostacy, but I have found a lot of bits and pieces on toys (and junked die-casts) that can be separated out and used or resin-copied, even by a klutz like me.  I used the roof and a-pillars of a 1;25 Trans Am toy to replace the destroyed top and w-shield of a very brittle 1961 Chrysler (JoHan) that I've had since new, and after also extending the 'fins' a scale six inches and putting on huge rims, it came out very dramatic.  Also, I found a generously-sized representation of a coolant pusher fan on a d/c M-B that I can easily surface cast and replicate muchas tiempos.  You never know!  Wick

Little boo boo at the front of the decal, but these decals kinda suck and there too long.  Had to cut some off the back to be right. EDIT: Going to redo the body.  Don't really like how it turnt out and the decal.

What did I accomplish?? I paint with fingernail polish at times and I didn’t get full coverage when I painted this the first time. So I wet sanded with 1500 wet-dry (wet of course) and got all the boogers out. Then I bought more of the same color and 3 more coats later - here we are. Debating on scallops now. Cheers.

Sir I will make you a deal you cannot refuse. I will paint your car any color you want for free. Just post your build and let me know if you want to do it.

P. S. I am charging $1000 to do these and have had crazy responses from all over the world to paint them. I just threw a number out there so crazy that I did not think anyone would respond but I was wrong. I have so many cars to do I just might retire and just do these. I have one guy that wants me to do three. Crazy is a understatement. I remember my first real car I painted I only charged $300 to paint it.

Played around with another Hot Wheel, this one is a new for 2022 ‘83 Silverado from their “Tooned” series. Just did a little work to black out the grill and exhaust tips on the side pipes, add front parking lights and reverse lenses and used a chrome silver marker on the headlights and roll bar lights, then added a little coloring to the blower assembly.

Not a stupid question, jokingly I would say “With little tiny brush strokes”.

Sorry, my sarcasm gets me in trouble sometimes.

But seriously I have an old cheap Badger air brush that I use. I’ve had it for years and it hasn’t let me down. I should have mentioned it.

Thanks for asking.

Cheers

Salvaged an old 1/24 Monogram Model A tub body (from the 1961 kit) that I painted candy turquoise and decaled as a S/R class racer; new frame from sprue, but reused the Chevy 283 with Hilborn and straight-out stacks, rims and tires, etc.  Very 1958-ish with whitewall slicks, three speed, and all.  It's not easy to rebuild something that got smashed fifty or more years ago, esp since my skills (as I laughingly call them) were not up to my ambitions!  I'll post it when I get the steering, fuel lines, etc put on.

Been modding a Hot Wheels “The Nash” into something different than the 1/1 rat rod it’s  based off of.

So here’s the real one in front of a life sized Hot Wheels card, I think this is after it was chosen for miniaturization.

image.thumb.jpeg.510afe09c9395c45f4ad6524522fad4e.jpeg

and here’s before I cut it up with the Matchbox ‘76 Civic CVCC wheel donor.

then after I got it apart with just the MB front wheels on it , as I had to grind at the quarters and create wheel openings since I couldn’t sink them in like on a proper Bathtub Nash.

And here it is with openings ground into the quarters with the MB wheels on both ends with another fresh out of package “The Nash”

I need to clean up the rear openings once my Dremel is recharged the knock down the Jr Dragster ‘chute where the spare should be, so I need to fab up a spare for it to make it look right then strip it to fill in the front openings and hole in the hood as well as shave the fender exhausts and doors handles before repainting it.

Now for the Civic, I’m trying to figure out what I want to do for wheels, but right now…….it almost looks like I left it in the wrong neighborhood………

I swear these things just find me!   Spending some quality bench time restoring this tattered old warrior.  I'm figuring this was built somewhere around 1960.  Don't date it by the 53 Studebaker wheels on the front end, I added those since the entire front end was wiped!

The one part I'm missing... can anyone identify this bumper?  The inner part that goes down was probably longer as it appears to have  been cut.
