In an effort to get out of a building slump, I started something completely different the other day.

I'm building a plane.

Haven't done that since junior high. Something like 35 years ago.

Yikes!

You could do a tank. They're really freaking easy! Glue, paint, weather, done!😁

Every once in a while it's fun just to build like I'm a 12 yr old again.

I recently got a box full of broken up builds. Tonight I pulled out the main parts of one and started putting it back together, adding a few parts box pieces and minor scratch building.

After 4 hours of building here is where I'm at.

After one or two more sessions at the bench I should have a completed build for my shelf.

I have a little jeep project that I want to use these Unidirectional tires from a diecast on, and the rims from the Mount’N Goat Jeepster. The tires are way to big for the rims though. So I drilled and filed out the diecast rims to fit the Jeepster rims. Then I filled the crevice between the tire and what’s left of the diecast rim with medium CA and sanded it smooth. I will paint them yet with Tamiya rubber black.

I’m pretty excited about this.  I just finished making my first ever resin parts!  No clean up has been done.  These are just test pieces because I honestly thought the first attempt would be a fail.  But success!  I only had one small bubble on each piece.  I’ll take that as a win.👍

Now I have an old set of five slot rims I want to make copies of.

Did a bit more work on this. Spent some time digging through my tire and wheel stash for the right set. I don't think I found it but these will do for now. Had to lower the rear suspension and put together a front suspension from the parts box. Going with a 70's style so I'm alright with it sitting a bit high but thiss may be too much. The tires and wheels are just mocked up for now. Still need to get some headlights and taillights together.

Looking for a fun project and I'm building the revell pulled pork Chevy truck. With headers poking out of the hood I was not thrilled with the molded in exhaust so out that came and rebuilt the cross member with styrene and the suspension is very limited in detail and I just bought some of the Meng bolt sets and I wanted to give them a try and I'm having some fun and I'm going to keep this a simple build. For the axle covers I just ordered some magnifier lenses as those bolts were a little to small for my nearing 50 year old eyes. I did get one on there. :)

I understand the logic behind the lip that Tamiya includes on the back-edge of their one piece wheels. The appearance to me is overly thick. The wheel on the right is original and the wheel on the left has been sanded down to eliminate the lip.

Here are all four wheels with the lips removed.

I really appreciate the detail and appearance of Tamiya tires right out of the box. The material Tamiya uses has a realistic "rubber-like" appearance. And of course the Pirelli detail is a bonus. This is an older boxing, so I'm not sure if this is still the case with more recent issues.

I agree with you.  One other thing that I discovered several years ago is that the rims are slightly conical.  I discovered this when I chucked one up in my lathe to trim the lip.  That slight cone shape can make the tires not fit flat on the ground.  The tires are snug enough fit to work well with the rims squared up.

I lost a tiny part on my bench yesterday, so I started tidying up. I had a bunch of shallow round containers and lids that I was keeping BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH in and just stuff everywhere. I went to Dollarama and bought a bunch of these square plastic trays. They stack and have either 2, 3, or 4 sections each.IMG_0839.thumb.jpeg.459611097b673331a92d8b3682ba0114.jpeg

I was on a roll so I made this divider board to hold these round containers that BSI glue bottles come in.
