David G. Posted October 15, 2021 Posted October 15, 2021 The paint on the chassis looks perfect! David G.
StevenGuthmiller Posted October 28, 2021 Author Posted October 28, 2021 Time to make that chassis dirty! Steve 1
Oldcarfan27 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 All that dirt and not a speck of rust. Can't be a real Mopar!! ? 2

Dragonhawk1066 Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Just the right amount of wear! What a thing of beauty this is going to be!
Bucky Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 I believe the 1:1 restorers could take a few notes, here!

Metalmad Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 (edited) Just now came across this build and allI I can say is WOW ! Awesome job so far Steven ! Edited October 29, 2021 by Metalmad
TooOld Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 Just like everything else your chassis are always very impressive , and the paint on your exhaust and mufflers may be the best I've seen ! And personally I wouldn't call it "dirty" , looks more like nicely "aged" to me .
absmiami Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 are you making the drive shaft and the U joints ?? my U joints failed every 25,000 miles or so on my long ago surrendered 73 Dodge Charger and I had the smallest V8! by the way - really glad that you re-routed the exhausts - given all of the great under-body work thats been done and by the way - the brake lines are attached to the axle - how ?? is that flat lead strip - or what ???

Actually, the brackets aren’t holding much. They’re just there for looks more than anything. They are just thin strips of aluminum cut from an aluminum soda can and bent to shape. StevenGuthmiller Posted October 31, 2021 Author Posted October 31, 2021 Thanks everyone! I think I'm ready to move on to the body work. I'll finish assembling the chassis at a later time. Steve 2
OldNYJim Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Really enjoy seeing you do this chassis-detailing work Steve - looks GREAT! Super realistic and well done
Steve H Posted October 31, 2021 Posted October 31, 2021 Hi Steve, amazing work as always sir. That chassis is a work of art. Some of the “cleanest”, “dirt” I’ve ever seen, some words that wouldn’t normally make sense in that order. Cheers, Steve
Bullybeef Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Just finished this thread from the beginning and wow have I learned a lot! Impressive is an understatement.
doorsovdoon Posted November 1, 2021 Posted November 1, 2021 Very nice weathering on the underside. Love the brake line detail running along the axle.
David G. Posted November 4, 2021 Posted November 4, 2021 The chassis looks phenomenal! Great color variation and weathering. David G.
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 Thanks everyone! Finally got started on laying down some primer on the body parts. I got the side marker bezels installed, will add another coat of primer, do a light sanding and then I can begin applying some color. Steve
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 4, 2021 Author Posted November 4, 2021 Got some wipers stripped and pinned as well. I'll paint them with some Alclad aluminum when the time comes. Steve
doorsovdoon Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 Those side markers look awesome! What did you use for those?
StevenGuthmiller Posted November 5, 2021 Author Posted November 5, 2021 19 minutes ago, doorsovdoon said: Those side markers look awesome! What did you use for those? Just short pieces of aluminum tubing, drilled out a little to thin the wall thickness and then polished on the ends. Actually a pretty easy upgrade. Steve
