TooOld Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 I built this Roadrunner using the body and interior from the MPC kit and the engine and chassis from the AMT 1971 Charger Kit . The wheels are from Fireball Modelworks and the tires are from the AMT '68 Camaro . Other parts are : side mirrors from Revell '71 Hemi Cuda , rear spoiler from the AMT Charger , hood pins from Detail Master , and the grille insert by Greg Wann . I had planned on painting it 1971 Plymouth Y8 Gold Leaf Poly but when I sprayed a sample I wasn't happy with it so I sprayed it Testors Inca Gold instead . It was cleared with Tamiya TS-13 and the decals are a combination of MPC and Keith Marks and my own air cleaner decal . This photo was my inspiration .
AMT68 Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 (edited) You built an extremely detailed model throughout. Beautiful work and I like the canopy vinyl top. Edited December 19, 2020 by AMT68

tim boyd Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Well Bob, you completely NAILED this one! Even down to the purple Meep=Meep "Voice of the Road Runner" horn. Big congrats....TIM
Spottedlaurel Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 That looks excellent, very nicely done.
Plowboy Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Very nice looking Road Runner Bob! I really like how you handled the chin spoilers! That looks so much better than factory! I've always thought those were so out of place on the full scale. Nice work!
Bills72sj Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Simply gorgeous!!!!!! I hope to make one half as nice some day. This is my favorite body of the Fuselage era.
Dragonhawk1066 Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Outstanding!! Very nicely done! The paint is spot on, the engine and chassis details are incredible and I love the Road Runner on the grille!

The horn was a last minute idea , if I had thought of it earlier I would have made the washer tank smaller so there would be more room for it .
Sixties Sam Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Great build! It's hard to tell it from the pics of the real car! Good work! Sam

I don't care for the chin spoilers either but then saw these tiny ones in the MPC kit and figured I'd try them . Still not a fan , luckily they're just on there with Tacky Glue .
