In the past I've bought a few Force 440 kits, just for this lightbar.... 1
PintoKING Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Could it be that the "all new" movie car will be a proper 1977 Dodge van "Cannonball Run"?

niteowl7710 Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 I gotta say with the way the CAD package is being shopped around everywhere right now, I wouldn't be totally surprised if that movie car wasn't the quasi-'70 Dodge Charger/Challengerish looking Batmobile from the new movie. Diecast seems to have done/are doing every scale other than "model scale", and Bandai announced a series of new Batmobiles from across the DC Multiverse that are all 1/35 scale of all things. Round2 has several Batman related models being reissued in 2022...me thinks...me wonders...

The current project has been in development for well over a year. It's certainly possible we see may this new Batmobile one day from somebody but it's not on the Round2 drawing board, at least not yet. -Steve 4

s.p.e.c.t.r.e. Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 (edited) If It's not the new Batmobile, Round 2 has the James Bond license , could we be getting a new Q branch Aston Martin DB5 with the No Time To Die upgrades and bullet shattered glass ? It's been awhile since the Doyusha release in the 90's, and those have gotten pricey, and would sell like crazy to every age bracket. Old News There's a 1/24 "Wet Nelly" Lotus Esprit from the The Spy Who Loved Me on Hobby Japan. It's been there since 2015, but I just now noticed it. https://www.hlj.com/1-24-scale-lotus-esprit-s1-james-bond-car-submarine-007-the-spy-who-loved-me-fuj09192 Edited April 4, 2022 by s.p.e.c.t.r.e. update 1
keyser Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Toyota 2000 roadster would be cool too. It has spy gear from You Only Live Twice, just never mentioned in only MPC issue. Airfix also had a coupe off same tool, but roadster only 1/24-5 one. Tool not seen in decades.
afx Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 (edited) Hasegawa recently re-issued their very nice 2000GT kit (although it is a hardtop in lieu of the movie's convertible) I would be surprised to see them releasing the MPC kit. Edited April 4, 2022 by afx

Was it Mpc owned or Airfix sourced?....have to dig up mine to see, but bet some of our members here know.
1972coronet Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 Maybe Round2 is going to release the AMCs in The Man with the Golden Gun ! They have the licence [sic] for the Bond stuff after all, eh? Since their ostensible target audience is "65+", perhaps they could include a traveller's size bottle of Gold Bond -- a Nguyen-Win situation!

Both MPC "Bond" kits were Airfix tools. It is unlikely the molds ever left England. The DB-5 Bond car was retooled into a DB-6 so that version is certainly gone,, and was released by MPC after the Bond kit's run. The the MPC release of the 200GT was the first revision of that tool, most of the Bond gadgets were omitted. However, that kit was converted to a 2000GT hardtop (fastback not the fictional clear hardtop in the roadster kit). All of the vintage 1/24 Airfix car tooling has been out of production since the 1960s, and are presumed lost with all the other tooling that hasn't been reissued by Airfix/Heller many times since. The Bond/Oddjob 1/12 figures and the 1/24 Bond Autogyro kit have been reissued many times since the 1990s. As you can probably tell I am a James Bond fan. 1 hour ago, Luc Janssens said:

Geez I hope it's a little younger than that, otherwise Round2 is gonna implode in less than a decade. 1

There's a "street" Fujimi S1 Esprit from the same tooling, and the one with the (wait for it) white car on the box includes the "Spy Who Loved Me" correct plates so you can do a set, wet or dry.
s.p.e.c.t.r.e. Posted April 4, 2022 Posted April 4, 2022 (edited) I wish Round 2 had a AMC Hornet tool, with the 77 AMX parts ,I would have to buy a few ,but all I know Is they used have AMC Gremlins ,Pacers , 1 Mandator, AMXs from several years ( 68-74 that I wish they would reissue) but Jo Han seemed to have most of the AMC license . They do however have a Sunbeam Tiger tool that could be used as the car from Dr. No. (and please Include the Get Smart parts this time) _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ after digging around, it's seems AMT did a Hornet after all, if it's the same tooling as the Johan Hornet, it may be lost forever. Darn....What other famous movie car (or could it be a truck too) then, isn't available in 1:25th scale? An Aston Martin also makes more sense in a global market.....but on the other hand it will be a one trick pony.....hmmm Edited April 5, 2022 by Luc Janssens
PintoKING Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 What other movie car? What about a 1975 Mercury Marquis, from Hawaii 5-0? What else?
Smoke Wagon Posted April 5, 2022 Posted April 5, 2022 Hard to say. There’s a lot of movie cars that haven’t been kitted. It would make sense to have the subject be of something that can also be sold as a kit without a movie tie-in. So the chances of it being something out there like the dog van from Dumb and Dumber are probably far less than it being something like the Fratellis’ Jeep Cherokee from the Goonies, which is a subject that could easily be made stock and could be reissued even after the film studio’s licensing agreement elapses. Just my .02.
