JustCraig Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 This what happens when you receive a model in the mail while reading a stack of magazines from 1982. I bought this resin body from Southern Motorsports Hobbies. It was nicely cast, but stock. No chassis, interior or glass. I vacuum formed a windshield. Shaved all the stock trim. Radiused the rear wheel wells. Inset '32 hood sides in the hood. Used the chassis and interior tub from the amt 66 nova. Cast my own wheels with the fronts narrowed. The stripes are painted on. Those photos where shot at the 1982 Street Rod Nationals in St Paul. As you can see I used that Roadster as inspiration for this build. Kind of like a companion piece. Not many people are building from this time period. 6
Zippi Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 That's a pretty good looking Falcon. Everything about the car looks so nice and polished. That engine looks so clean. This is one of the best looking builds I've seen in a while. Just a great job. 1
Lordmodelbuilder Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Quote I have one of these Falcon models & like 99 % of them the rear wheelwells were hacked for slicks. I hate the stock rear wheelwells, but filled mine in anyways. Looking at you beautiful model, I am going to do my rear fenders like yours. I love everything about your build. Nice work!! 1
Painted Black Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Really sharp bird. like the SBF in orange 1
happy grumpy Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Great work on the falcon. The engine looks super neat and so does the paint job. Thanks for sharing. 1
Spottedlaurel Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 That looks great, and I like how you've based it on something seen at 1:1. The early 1980s was when I started buying custom/rod magazines here in the UK and I remember this look starting to appear. 1
bogger44 Posted December 6, 2021 Posted December 6, 2021 Great looking Falcon, and sweet work on painting those stripes. This is a really clean build, congrats. 1
ybsluos Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Craig that is a heck of a build. I have a couple projects I plan to do early 80s style. You’re right, not many folks do cars of that era. Yours makes me want to do a Pro Street car with “anodized“ aluminum interior and other custom tricks of the time. Champ 500s....you’re hitting me where I live!- Mark
ybsluos Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 I still have the Nova tube chassis Pro Street in my avatar. It has Auto Drag wheels but I seriously considered Champs. I wish I had gone with them. Oh well, I’ll just have to live with the 1/25 set I am using on my current Pro Street 69 Road Runner model.
TooOld Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Beautiful Falcon and very nicely executed , the rear openings look great ! What color is that ?
NOBLNG Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Excellent work! I would have guessed that the stripes were a decal. My very first car was a ‘67 Falcon so I really enjoy seeing this.?
happy grumpy Posted January 13, 2022 Posted January 13, 2022 Your hard work paid off, it's now a beautiful rare model. Impressive work?
Plowboy Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 That little Falcon has the eighties all over it! Nice work!
The German Posted January 14, 2022 Posted January 14, 2022 Wonderfull work! I always admire the variety of models you guys have in the States! The selection of model kits here is not exactly lavish. If you want something special, you have to import it! Keep on modelling!
