Here's my version of the Monogram Shelby Cobra 427 S/C. I entered this one in this Forum's Cannonball Run Year of Birth Community Build. I custom mixed Chroma Molten Metals Copper with Delta Black craft paints and the stripes are Anita's Gloss Black craft paint, all airbrushed. I used Krylon Short Cuts Gloss Clear from the can, and wet-sanded, Novus polished, and Meguiar's waxed it for a shiny finish. I used the gauge decals from the Revell Streetburner Cobra kit and hand painted Molotow Chrome around the bezels. I used the wheels and tires from Revell's Dom's GTX kit, painted with the Anita's Glossy Black. I somehow lost the steering wheel, so my Ferrari Testarossa parts kit supplied this one.

Shelby Cobra's are my dream car, and this is the second one I've built so far. The kits are pretty nice and pretty much look the part. I've had lots of fun building both. I included a couple of pics of the two Cobra's together, and the last two pics show the difference in lighting between indoors (2nd to last pic) and outdoors (last pic). I hope you enjoy the pics, and thanks for looking!

I like what you've done with both, but I find the copper color to be absolutely stunning! The more I look, the more I love it. That's a standout paint scheme. Very well done.

Fandamntastic!!  I absolutely love that color!  Coupled with the black parts and accents makes for such a cool combination.  Really, really nice Cobra, Craig!

Beautiful looking color and finish. I like the blue one as well. Looks good with the black trim and wheels.

Killer build!  I don't have the patience to do such a shiny paintjob.  Should have an Arizona plate since we are the copper state. ?  Gumball Rally is one of my favorite movies too.

Thanks Kurt! I'll have to print one up when I get more ink for my printer!

The detailing is exceptional. How did you get such a beautiful gloss finish?

Thanks Bill! Mainly luck, lol. It's a gloss lacquer clear that I wet-sanded from 3200 up to 12000 grit, then polished with  Novus #2, and finally waxed with Meguiar's Cleaner Wax.

I see, good paint AND elbow grease. I am too lazy for all that polishing.
