Claude Thibodeau Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 The great Steve Stanford posited that a 68 Tbird with a much lower 71 roof transplant would be a better looking 'Bird: he was right! So: mash-up AMT's 68 body with the 71 roof, and add a scratchbuilt floor pan, front and rear pro-touring frame sections, a modular Cobra engine with custom injection, and a mostly scratchbuilt interior, save for the dash, and throw on a satin pearlescent gold finish, and voilà... Thanks for the inspiration, Mister Stanford! CT 15
Bainford Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Another beauty, Claude. Lovely work. That roof does look good on the ‘68.
Steve H Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Whoa!! Another wicked build Claude. That roof gives it a totally different look, and what a cool colour. I didn’t realize how nice the lines on those Tbirds were, but then again you’ve dramatically changed the overall look of the car. Beautiful work as always my friend, thanks for sharing. Cheers, Steve
XYHARRY Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Wow! Another beautiful build Claude. I love how clean your models look. I'm always looking forward to the next creation from the "House of Claude". Cheers, David. ??
espo Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Beautiful looking body work. Makes you wonder why Ford didn't think of that. Like the chassis work and the paint finish.
Rattlecan Dan Posted April 18, 2023 Posted April 18, 2023 Solid Gold! Smooth and in the groove. Nice work!

Indeed, Steve Stanford had an eye for a "simple" improvement: not even a chop was required, just a transplant... CT
happy grumpy Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Another flawless build Claude . You have a knack for this kind of build. Great paint finish too.
NOBLNG Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Beautiful and super clean build Claude!? I like those hood hinges. I think I’ve seen them on some of your other works. Do you have a patent on them??

Beautiful work as always my friend, thanks for sharing. Cheers, Steve Hi Steve! Thank you. But, truth be told, I was hesitating between glass-smooth candy purple (the color used by Mr. Stanford in his rendering of this car), and the gold finish. I favored a lighter shade, for the mods to be well defined, AND I was influenced by your own satin Camaro. Further, when I saw that your current Eldo project might also get the satin treatment, I figured you could be on to something, and gave it a try! LOL. Now, as you well know, this type of finishing is very demanding, and you must be super-careful during assembly not to mar it. Challenging, but stimulating! CT
cobraman Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Great looking custom ! Always top notch builds from your bench,
Koellefornia Kid Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Awesome, Claude! I remember Steve Stanford's original sketch and the "Thunderstruck", that was built from it. Always wanted to build scale replica but I could never get a vintage '68 T-Bird kit (very hard to get here Europe). Though the original rendering and the 1:1 car were more traditional kustom designs I really like the pro-touring take on it you are sharing with us here. Great build, nice paint and some really cool modifications! ?
AmericanMuscleFan Posted April 19, 2023 Posted April 19, 2023 Very beautiful Thunderbird, we can't argue that the new headdress you grafted on it suits it perfectly! I love the color and I know (from seeing all of your models) that this shade is one of your favorites, It's a classy color like the builder who presents it to us! I just noticed that you used a Dana differential, it's not a reproach but we know how famous Ford is for its 9 inch which are a reference in the field. There's no harm in interchanging the parts, anyway they can't be found these days and I could tell you about it... ?
