I like you're thinking! I had a '67 TR4A long ago when it was only 2 years old. Your TR6 looks great!

And, I just sold my '16 GTI  for a 19 Golf R two weeks ago. The R IS the fix for all that front wheel spinning on the GTI. It feels like a different car and I'm keeping it!  ))

Thanks! I've had the TR for 30 years now. It was a rust bucket when I got it and not much worked electrically. Lots of my time and $ went into making it the way you see it now! I saw your earlier post on your R.....nice car! Ididn't know the R's were all wheel drive? Did you mainly experience front wheel spin on the GTI in the snow or on wet roads? I've only experienced it a couple times on dry roads and that's only when I "get into it" hard.

My daily ride is a 2011 Ram 2500 4x4. Wife's daily is a AWD 300C...and 2 '65 Plymouth projects in the garage (Valiant & Belvedere II).

Same here.....when I was born, my first ride home from the hospital was in a 1948 Dodge car! MOPAR has been in my blood all my life!

The GTI was pretty much as you say ... it broke loos and spun and chirped when really getting into it on dry roads. I never felt torque steer all the time I had it .. it IS an amazing front wheel driver. All Golf R's are AWD and the new Dynamic Chassis Control, IMO, gives it a Porsche-like ride between comfort and fast. My wife refused to ride in the GTI but likes the R .. go figure.

Sadly I went from a 2016 mustang gt to a 2017 Ford fiesta. 

Company layoffs scared me into being more budget conscious. I wasn't one of the people laid off, but I realized that I needed to get myself in order in case something happens.

It was painful to go from 400+ hp to like 100hp. my wallet is happier though

I once traded a 1979 Trans Am for a 1984 Chevette. It was an improvement! The dealer sold the T/A the next day, and then two days later the 6.6 engine in the T/A threw a rod through the block!

My Chevette lasted for several years.

My 87 ram with a 225 /6.  A really clean truck.  My 88 Diplomat ex Tennessee Highway Patrol.  My 97 4x4 for the woods.  My wife has a crown vic and a Ford F150. Car poor we are.

After driving a 1st gen Chevy S10 as a daily driver for four years, I wanted something older. The S10 was good, but the amount of electricity caused some issues in the engine bay when something was wrong and the engine didn't run right. So the search for something more simple started...

'74 Chevy Malibu Classic STW (350 SBC + TH350) was for sale with a reasonable price. As the seller lowered the price significantly when I went to check out the car, I had to have it. It had only a couple of smaller things to do before I went to the tech inspection to make it legal to drive (new exhaust pipes, couple of small rust fixes, windshield washer and turn signal wirings and of course a proper set of wheels and tires).

The Malibu was sold as new in Finland in 1974. The importer painted it black and the car was used as a Hearse until 2014. US made Wagons were commonly used as Hearses in here back in the day. Because of that, this car had low mileage and it was in pretty good shape. Now I've driven around 4700 Miles on it (since late July) and have had zero problems. And yet I hear some people saying that "You can't use an older car as a daily driver..."

It's far from perfect, but it's going to get some improvements like better bumpers and doors in the near future...

This is not what I drive every day but this summer I had the fortune of baby sitting this 1960 Mercedes 180 for a couple of months:


And this is what I have suffer with at work every day, a 13 Citroen Berlingo with a very tiny "rubber band type" oil burner and a gearbox with an electronic "brain" that tells it to shift gears at the worst possible times?
It has almost a 190 000km on the clock now and I don't think it will last for another 190 000kms.?

I daily drove my 77 Ford F-150 4x4 with a 400 and a C6 for about two months and it was the scariest/funnest things I have ever driven.

The bad 

The suspension is very stiff, the track bar mount is broken so the front end will sway from side to side, tires sound like 4 helicopters following you around every where you go, it’s straight piped with the exhaust shooting out right under your feet so if you don’t want to die from carbon monoxide poisoning the windows have to stay open, the heater doesn’t work so it is cold every morning, it gets 8 mpg, fuel gauge doesn’t work so I pack a extra gas with me for when I run out of fuel, the speedo is out by about 20kmh so when it says you are doing 80kmh you are actually going 100kmh, the lights randomly burn out, the tailgate dose not open, the striker post are worn out so the doors bounce around, the transmission shifts very hard, the brakes barely work and I have to top up the brake fluid before and after work, it burns just as much oil as it does fuel, the windshield wipers don’t work, the temp gauge doesn’t work (it doesn’t matter because you know it is always over heating), and it is very rusty.

the good

you get thumbs up from everyone else on the road, people stare at you when you drive by, you feel like    a hero every time you make it home safely, it sounds cool and it has enough power to do a burnout.
