Mike C. Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 (edited) I'll have to search for more wheels but I did find that thr chevy truck wheels that come with the Revell 1/24 stepside Chevy. Fit just about perfectly. I got out my cheapo plastic micrometer and found the diameter of the Fireball wheel to be somewhere around 19mm. I tried 1 of Casey's 5 slots and found them to be too big (they're for 1/20). Edited February 9, 2022 by Mike C.
cobraman Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Found this sealed kit at a good price so I thought I would give it a shot . 1

niteowl7710 Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Latest batch of goodies from HLJ. The Platz Japan specific reissue of the 320i has 3D printed belts. These are becoming a fairly common item in airplane models/aftermarket but is the first time I'm aware of them being included commercially in an automotive kit. They're a nice middle ground between the waterside one dimensional kit decals and going through the process of making a set of fabric/P.E. belts. Also included is the first in a series of pre-decorated/open option P/E license plates being sold by Platz. This first set represents Setagaya/Matsudo/ Mt. Fuji (Yamanashi)
bluestringer Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 This is a late Christmas gift from my son and grandsons. I have never built a truck so it will be a challenge. Looking forward to it. 3
Bullybeef Posted February 10, 2022 Posted February 10, 2022 Haven’t bought much lately, but with my current build this was a had to have purchase 1/8 scale ardun heads, late flathead side mount distributer, triple strombergs, finned frogmouth air scoops and a vertex magneto! Did I spend to much?….yes! Did I have to have them?… absofriggenloutly! 1

I look forward to seeing your restoration or rebuilding of it. Congratulations and model on!
Modlbldr Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 Bought this off of FB Marketplace a couple of weeks ago but had the seller hold it for me until I got moved into my new home. Just arrived today! Early operational headlights 64 Galaxie. The seller had put a sticker over the roof and glass that didn't want to come off. A bit of dish soap and water should clean it up. Looking forward to a rebuild of it. Later- 2
Mr mopar Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 This weeks find at the LHS ,all came out of a Collection .
Mike C. Posted February 11, 2022 Posted February 11, 2022 (edited) Well I did it again. I paid a little too much for a vintage sealed Kit But I don't see Monogram reissuing this one any time soon. It will be a while until I get around to building it but it's definitely getting a set of those Fireball Super Swampers. Edited February 11, 2022 by Mike C. 2

I will keep checking to see when they might get some more in. But, they did have some airplanes and battle ships! But, you can order the set from some places, when it is back in stock! https://www.plazajapan.com/4582138604665/ I ordered mine. They will be here today but be forwarned, shipping cost is a bear. About 38 bux.

Something in the door line is off on the model. It does have that dogleg line but the real car is not as severe as the one on the kit. Windows could be enlarged at the bottom too. From what I can tell it looks like they were glued after it was painted. Hood and the windshield were glued after painting too. I'm hoping it all comes apart easy after a soak in the purple pond. There are no headlights in it. I should be able to make some that look right. I need to find some pics of a C2 with it's "eyes" open.

Yeah, shipping is a killer right now. I ordered a $30.00 dollar hat from Mooneyes Japan and it cost me almost $70 when it was all said and done! Glad you got them, I just might order a set myself if they don't re-stock them at the store.

They can be addictive! 1
The Junkman Posted February 12, 2022 Posted February 12, 2022 Not a kit but some inspiration. Hit an estate sale without enough time to get detailed in searching. But I found a June 1964 issue of Road and Track. It had everything I grew up loving R&T for: race reports from the Daytona 2000 and Sebring races, cover shot with Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe/NART and David Piper Ferrari 250GTO's, road test of the new "AC Cobra" (with accompanying history of AC cars) and Sunbeam Imp, another race report by Stan Mott covering the Cyclops and the East Africa Safari Rally, ad featuring Ed "Big Daddy" Roth and announcing Revell's 2nd Annual National Open Custom Car Contest, initial reporting on the new Ford GT which "looks suspiciously like last year's Lola". Then the classified ads: Jaguar XK/SS ($6000), '61 Ferrari 250 California cabriolet 12K original miles ($7000), '47 MG-TC ($899-$1350). I want to build one of each. Was the Cyclops ever done in 1/25? 1
