Today it was cheap drill bits!? I didn’t buy these on purpose, they came with a drill that I bought, but this one is ground so poorly that the cutting edge doesn’t even touch the surface of the material.?

another update on my ranger. i got it back yesterday from the 2nd attempt at fixing the windshield recall. there was glue on the side of the window. they fixed the glue, but this time left a scratch on the dashboard. i spoke to the manager and he said the service manager would call me in the morning, instead i get an email from someone saying bring in the truck, i want to see it. i work from this hour to this hour

i called corp ford and explained to them the issue and how i dont trust they wont screw it up worse. they told me to bring it to a different dealership and explain to them the issue and corp ford gave me a case number. once i get an estimate for fixing it, i need to call corp ford with the estimate and they will either approve or deny the cost (or maybe even a portion of the cost)

i have been generally very unhappy with the service i have received all around at ford, and looked up how much my truck was worth if i traded it in. its too big of a hit for me to trade it in, plus every chevy and gmc dealers have been doing significant dealer market adjustments (i have seen up to 7000 on a base truck) so i will just have to find a dealership i like and go there. the closest next one is 45 to 60 minutes away. they are the ones i am going to see if they will fix the dashboard. i trust them more, they used to do the work on my old ford and i never had an issue with them. i just wish i didnt have to drive an hour to get my car serviced/repaired

Sometimes the drive is worth it. Just basic service, but I have only one dealer I'm comfortable enough to have even change the oil on our Charger or Cherokee.

A shame you have to go through all of this for a simple recall. Never your fault from the beginning yet you're forced to spend all of your time trying to get things right.

My neighbor drove a truck local West TN 64 years old was going to have knee surgery and retire. He was driving very close in near by town truck pull in front of him , he hit the front fender  my neighbor went down an embankment and burned to death. The pick up didn’t see him or tried to beat him.  His wife is a widow living alone now..

I used to work for a major auto parts chain that sold Optima batteries and the common consensus was they were overpriced junk going by the number of warranty returns.

Went on Ebay over the weekend. First time in quite a while.

When searching kits, the amount of 3d printed resellers is ridiculous. My search was easily half made of people that are buying .stl files, printing them, and then selling them. $30-40 for a set of wheels/tires? $50 for an engine?

I mean, I guess there's a market for it, but wow did it make my search frustrating.

Wow.

There was a time Optima was pretty much the "gold standard" for aftermarket batteries, but there's been a debate stemming from rather a lot of problems with them over the years, as to whether they're really good or not.

As with most things, there's a lot of baloney interspersed with a few facts. Many of the problems seem to be directly related to incorrect charging of deeply discharged batteries, where the batteries have been run almost flat in cars with inoperative charging systems, but there are a significant number of other failures reported in correctly functioning charging systems.

I've returned to using high-performance old-school lead-acid batteries for street-driven vehicles, as they seem to work and last very well if high-quality units are purchased and reasonably maintained, and don't usually need special charging procedures if they're deeply discharged.

For competition vehicles that have a possibility of becoming inverted, I'll still specify AGM (absorbed glass mat) batteries, as there's no issue of spilling acid to compound rollover or high speed collision dangers.

I love thunderstorms but they are pretty rare around here but they do happen from time to time.

I love them too, but this summer has been one of the wettest I can remember.

The three suburban crops that define life in the South in summer...mold, mildew, and mosquitos...are doing really, really well.

You must have "our" rain.  Northeast USA is in drought.  But mosquitoes aren't as bothersome as other years.

Drought is an understatement where I live  Temps in the 80s and 90s with high humidity, throw in a t-storm only makes things even worse with a lingering, sticky humidity.

Don't get me wrong, I love summers but I hate the humidity.

I think of several of you men in the west. I really wish the entire west would get rain to get the west out of a drought..

Yeah, the muggy weather is the pits!  It's been in the upper 90s here for several days, and dew point in the 70s (tropical).  We did have a brief t-storm here, which only things even more humid. No need to live in Florida - we have their weather in Boston.  Summer? Neah, I prefer Spring and Autumn, but those seem to get shorter and shorter every year.

Welcome to summer in the Southeast. I have had several outdoor projects that I planned for late afternoon literally get washed out because of Mother Nature- painting, car washing, lawn mowing, yard work, walking the dog.

Yeah, I've been dealing with it since '69.

These days, I always check the trends on NWS radar (there's about a 4-minute delay from real-time) prior to doing much of anything outdoors, but I got caught this time. A popup t-storm materialized in the 20 minutes it took me to get from the shop to home.

This has been a strange weather season here. Usually our weather moves from west to east, and you can get a pretty good idea of when things will happen from the radar. But we've had a lot of stalled systems and high daytime temps and humidity, with more frequent popup storms than I can recall.

There are two in the area right now, moving from northeast to southwest, but there was no indication of anything 30 minutes ago.

Probably need to shut down the dinosaur computer I use for photo storage. He doesn't much like power outages, which have been frequent with the recent t-storms too.

My computer won't open my beloved AOL browser. Spent an hour on the phone with AOL tech support to no avail. They know what I need but they can't install it on my Windows 8. I'll have to upgrade.

The Lovely Mrw. Snake was having loud and physical nightmares last night. Didn't get much sleep.

I'm pretty "irked" over something else, too, but won't mention it. Many of you can probably imagine what.

There's so much every day, how can you pick just one thing?

You make a good point. ;)

Or, as the late great prophet Sam Kinison would say, "It never stops. IT NEVER STOPS! OOHHHHH-OOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
