I drive one handed most of the time.

So did the killer of Richard Kimble's family.

Yesterday my Love bird, Kiwi of 19 years passed away.. now we have only our Chihuahua, Zoey who is going on 17 (human years) and is not far from joining Kiwi. After Zoey our pet days are over. No more heartaches... ?

I blame one handed driving starting around the time power steering became sort of the standard. Before that you usually needed both hands to turn a corner or maneuver a car or truck. Now everyone is trying to multitask behind the wheel instead of making driving their main focus.

Everyone says that, Mike man...... You'll end up with another pet, though! It took a year before I thought I was ready for another dog, but I'm glad that I've adopted Emmet!

Yeah I've said it before then gone pet searching again but I have my outside buddies now, Squirrels and chipmunks. No heartaches no hassles just pure pleasure. I have photos of feeding them by hand over on the Friendly Loveable Squirrels thread..

Glad you were able to give new life to an animal in need of a new friend.

When my white cat Spooky had to be put down I said the same thing. Then one of the ferals abandoned a kitten a few years back, and he lives inside now. Smart fella, not really happy being an indoor cat (he was indoor-outdoor first 4 years), but so many of the ferals have been squashed by changing-demographic-hotshots in the neighborhood last couple of years, I keep him in now.

Speaking of squashed...about 6 months back, another feral kitten adopted me after its mother was killed just as it was being weaned. It's full-grown now, smart enough to stay out of the street so far, follows me around outside like a dog, and runs to greet me when it hears my truck pull in.

Last week another feral abandoned another kitten that somehow got inside the house. The mother would never touch it again, even though I put it next to the outdoor food bowl. Anyway, it was getting weaker and weaker so I started feeding it with a dropper and now it's eating wet food and doing just great...though I'm still keeping it outside in a cage. It's so cute I figure after I take it to the vet for the whole tuneup bit in another week or two, somebody will surely want to give it a home.

I said no more pets, but they seem to know I have a soft spot for critters that need help...and my indoor cat Spot has probably kept me from going entirely off the stress-rails over the last year or so. Hard to beat a non-judgemental warm fuzzy after an awful day dealing with humans.

So my first week in my convalescent I had a two bed room to myself.

Two days ago I had a room mate who has been recovering from a fall. He is c9nstantly calling staff to help him up. He is capable but a majority of the time he chooses to be helpless. The last two nights his actions have distrusted my sleep. I was up 5 or 6 times last night. I am getting monumentally annoyed becuase it's making it hard for me to doing the things I need to do to go home. He needs assistance when he gets up for the fall but not at the excessive frequency he has been doing.

I had to bite my tongue when I heard him ask his wife when he was going home. Don't understand how he thinks he can put no effort into getting better when he is making no effort to doing anything.

Hopefully tonight will be better.  Regardless there is going to be a change. It's a pain in the rear for me and the staff who have told him they have limited bandwidth.

I just found out that my roommate has dementia and is not just a person who relishes being a victim. Hoping tonight is better.

Since we are poking at driving commercials, here's one that's been airing lately that just laughable!  And it's so ludacris that it's message is completely muted. Stoners just laugh at it!  I'm upset that our public monies paid for this stupidity!

It's about stoned driving...  it starts out with four quick scenes of each of these people smoking pot by themselves on their way to get together.  Then they get into the car and realize everyone is stoned and nobody should be driving,  so they just hang out in their yard.

First, anyone who ever smoked pot in their youth know..

1. Four people wouldn't each have their own stash.  There is always that one guy who never has weed, beer, cigarettes or money for McDonalds.  That is the group mooch.

2. If you were on your way to meet 3 other people, you wouldn't want to be the only one stoned.

3. Even less attractive to be the only straight person with 3 stoned people you are supposed to chauffer somewhere!

4. Smoking pot is a community thing.  You'd want to flash that doobie and share it with your three friends after you got to your destination

5. At least one of the guys would drive!  Remember that old, "I drive better stoned than straight!" guy?

Take that frickin commercial off the air!   There!  I feel much better now!

Ummmm...it's ludicrous.

"Ludacris" is a rapper.

"Brass" wire brushes that seem to be magnetic. looks like brass, but turns out to be brass-plated steel.  Like maybe we want and need solid brass wire for a reason.

Tried to get my troublesome roommate moved ...

My sympathies - years back in a brief hospital visit when my late mother had one of her mini-strokes, the person across the hall must have had a major one. Big guy, bellowing voice, he was demanding a drink of water …. over and over and over again. Nurse finally went in there and was trying to reassure the guy she'd given him some water just a short time earlier. He forgot the moment she walked out.

The A/C has been out of commission for about a month at work and should be back up and running in time the actual summer weather to start, but my boss’ office can turn into an oven by mid day, so she bought an ossolating upright fan to stick by the door to try and draw cooler air into it until the A/C is working. She tried to put it together herself but got frustrated and brought it to me since I’m kinda the go-to when it comes to arts and crafts type projects for the office as well as assembling stuff. I get off the phone and look at the instructions……..the written instructions are boarder-line useless and the diagram printed on it is about the size of my thumb and gives no real view of the bottom of the fan.

Luckily it was easy to figure out and pretty straightforward once I looked at the fan and base, but man were those instructions useless!

I was finally able to get some time in to clear out the debris in one of the flower gardens (long overdue) that runs along the neighbors fence line and dismantle a wood bin structure I made years ago to store one cord of wood in when we used to use our fireplace. I was so tickled to cross this project off my list.. unfortunately the next day I had a tickle of a different kind... fricken poison ivy! I didn't even see it while I was cleaning out the weeds and leaves but it saw me. I've got it on the arms, little on my legs and as of this morning around my eyes, neck and cheeks. I loaded it up with some zinc-oxyde plus with calamine cream and I'm in hopes of fast relief and the annihilation of weepiness.

The cream was crappie and did nothing but transferred to anything I touched. I popped a benadryl and got some relief during the night but this morning between the Insatiable itchiness and more swelling to my face I made an appointment with my family physician. After a jab in the arm with a Steroid and a prescription for a 6 day regiment of Prednisone I have new hopes of clearing up this poison. As for poison in the garden I'll be looking into some killer spray to reward it with. ?

I can sympathize with you on the poison ivy. I have gotten infected a couple of times and for me it is just almost imposable to get rid of. Used to even have to sleep at night with a long sleeve shirt and pants on when trying to recuperate.  I would scratch it at night in my sleep. Our family doctor gave me some sort of steroid shot that at least started getting my body to fight back along with everything else you're also doing.

Thanks.. I too wore the long shirt and pants and just as you said, night shift scratching..lol I've had it before but not this bad. It's the first time I encountered a poison plant in 27 years on my property.

15 business days ago I ordered a fancy cast aluminum differential cover from a website called Racing Power Company, and I still don't have it.  Thought I gave plenty of time before the appointment with my mechanic, but NO!!!!  I bet nobody who actually races gets stuff from them, if they respond to my email I will cancel the order, to heck with them.  Summit at least has customer service, but that part was useless.
