Joe Handley Posted January 22, 2018 Posted January 22, 2018 No pics, but I did see one of the Weinermobiles out in the wild today!

I don't believe you are allowed to show your weiner in public anymore. Ask Harvey! I drive past this place occasionally, this time I it was daylight and I had time! Falcon hardtop was neat, but the entire drivers side quarter was wiped! Still working... at least clearing the lot. These two were same color with same company name... guess they've known each other a long time. Edited January 23, 2018 by Tom Geiger
D. Battista Posted January 24, 2018 Posted January 24, 2018 An all too common sight in the North East...!

RancheroSteve Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 Don't see too many of these around - Nissan Figaro. Right hand drive, of course.
misterNNL Posted January 25, 2018 Posted January 25, 2018 After I picked up my '84 Chevy SUV at the dealership body shop,I drove around the back side of the building when leaving and spotted a 1960's vintage Rolls Royce parked in a row of used cars! The little kid's song"one of these things is not like the others, One of these things does not belong" kept running through my head. Something about that gold plated grille and hood ornament just jumps right out at you. Turns out it was only there for a few hours and then was going back inside the service shop and up on a lift where it would be safe and warm as it belongs to the poor guy who owns the dealership. Did I mention that his '53 Cadillac Coupe DeVille was in there too for an engine rebuild. Some guys really have it rough huh?
lysleder Posted January 26, 2018 Posted January 26, 2018 (edited) I recently moved to Nebraska from Long Island, and many a thing is different here. This is truck country big time, but all the trucks on the road are fairly new. Should you be so lucky as to spot an older one, it usually look like this. and then today I saw this one. A Chevy Citation. Not all that common a sight anymore. Edited January 26, 2018 by lysleder

The big difference I immediately noticed from my home state of New Jersey was that in NJ, the new car dealers all had cars up front and the rows of trucks behind them. Out west it was the opposite! The front row was all those crew cab dualies! The other difference is that in NJ those big trucks are just personal transportation. You see guys wearing suits driving them on the turnpike during rush hour. Out west, those trucks work for a living! You see them with large third wheel horse trailers and the like!
Earl Marischal Posted January 27, 2018 Posted January 27, 2018 Saw this in the car park of a model railway show I was helping out at today. Austin A40 Farina Mk II 1961-1967. Incidentally one of the first hatchbacks. steve
Pete J. Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 (edited) Ok, this one if for all those driving through the snow and slush. I was on my way home last night on the 405 just south of LAX(Los Angeles airport for those not fluent in ICAO) and 8:30 last night and saw this dude livin' the dream. Southbound in February in a shiny new BMW convertible with the top down, doin' 70 mph, just enjoying the night air! Yup, that's the reason I moved to SoCal 30 years ago. Oh and by the way, about a minute later we were both passed by a silver Lambo Adventador doing well over 70. Wasn't quick enough to snap a photo of that. Edited February 4, 2018 by Pete J.

In the last 2 days I've spent over 4 hours clearing snow. About a foot Saturday and another six inches today and it's still snowing. Through it all I keep telling myself at least I don't have to worry about forest fires, mudslides, earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons or hurricanes......at least I don't have to worry about forest fires........... You guys seem to have to pay dearly to live the dream....

You guys seem to have to pay dearly to live the dream.... You'd think so but not so much. If you consider that California is about the size of the east coast from South Carolina to New York we don't get anything that area doesn't have comparable except nasty weather. I've lived here 30 years and have only occasionally felt a little shake from and earthquake. Only twice anything more than comparable to a train going by. I have never been evacuated because of a fire, though I have been close twice. I've never been anywhere near a mudslide or flood or tsunami. Hurricanes? Don't get them here. Neither do we get hail or tornadoes. Blizzards stay up in the mountains were they belong. Unless you are out in the desert you only see thunderstorms at a distance. Traffic? Oh heck yes and some other craziness, but no more than you would see in New York, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Atlanta, D.C. or any other heavily populated area. Pay dearly for the dream? Na, it really doesn't seem like much of a price to pay most of the time. I've shared your life. I spent 5 years in northern Michigan and have no need to go back to that area. You couldn't drive me out of here with a wildfire.
cowboy rich Posted February 4, 2018 Posted February 4, 2018 Lots of pretty country in California, I left norcal a few years ago after being there for around 10 yrs due to personal issues and came back to Washington state. All the places I've been California is one that you can be up to your butt in snow then drive a few hours and have your toes in the sand. California is a great place its just some of the politics I don' like, but that's everywhere.
SSNJim Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 The motorcycle club I rode with in San Diego had an annual ride called the "Three Climate Tour". It started at the beach, went up into the mountains, then out into the desert and back - all in a few hours. What a blast that was.

Yes, it is pricey but I just need to buy a slightly heavier sweatshirt to make it through winter. And one set of tires. To keep this on topic, yesterday I also saw a Citation in rural (affluent!) Marin County. Probably the first in 20 years. 10 minutes later a Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer, again 20 years after the last one I'd seen. Edited February 5, 2018 by The Junkman
Pete J. Posted February 5, 2018 Posted February 5, 2018 Without a doubt the center of car culture is California. The center of that is southern California. The Epicenter is LA. I drive from San Diego up the 405 to see my grandbaby in Ventura often and the exotic and unusual expected. In addition to the Aventador and the BMW previously mention, the drive yesterday included a Ferrari 350 coupe, an Audi R8, an early Duesenberg, and a AMG GT coupe. Teslas are really common and going through the gap by UCLA there is a McLaren, BMW, Lamborghini, Ferrari, Mercedes and BMW dealerships on opposite sides of the freeway. Exotics are really quite common, not to mention customs and other collectables. We are spoiled with the plethora of exciting cars in the area.
shoopdog Posted February 8, 2018 Posted February 8, 2018 Have a 60 Coupe Deville and a 65 Coupe Deville convertible displayed at our dealership

W-409 Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 Yesterday we went to Sweden to a Swap Meet that was meant for Drag Race / Street Race parts only. Very good event and I found bunch of parts for my Chevy II project. On our way back home, I saw these in normal traffic...
Rob Hall Posted February 18, 2018 Posted February 18, 2018 (edited) Saw an Amphicar up close yesterday. White w a black top. Might be the first one I'd ever seen. On display in a restaurant. Edited February 19, 2018 by Rob Hall
W-409 Posted February 19, 2018 Posted February 19, 2018 Today I saw this very nice and clean '73-'77 Ford Pickup at a local gas station. It was in very nice condition. I've been a couple times in SoCal and there you always see several of these Fords, but I have to say that here in Finland these are definitely not common cars, even though we have pretty strong US car culture in here. Not the best picture, but it's all I could do with my cell phone...

ChrisBcritter Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 Tom P. asked me to pass this one along, from the wintry streets of Prospect Heights, IL: "A little new, but still something you don't see every day... 1988-93 Suzuki Alto twin turbo, right hand drive and all... Not sure if it breaks the 3 meter length or not..."
iamsuperdan Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 We had this one arrive yesterday, ready to deliver to a new client. I absolutely love these. Brand new 2017 Sprinter 2500 4X4 high roof 12-passenger van. This one is pretty loaded, and we did a tire upgrade for the client. I want one for myself. Badly. I had the white one pictured a couple of years ago. Absolutely loved it. But it wasn't the high roof version. Still, should have kept that one. Would love to see this in kit form.
