  1. well, I'm glad he fixed that, my brain hurt after reading one of his posts.
  2. try taking a photo in regular light with the camera on a tripod, then (without moving the model or the camera) take a photo with only blacklight. (long exposure may be required) then a little photoshop magic can superimpose the glowing lines onto the white lighted version of the photo.
  3. that was about some guy shrugging...right? (just kidding) they probably don't want us to know the brightest have already gone.
  4. nevermind
  5. the Deora had a decent slant six in it. I still have it in a parts bin. I used the rest of the Deora for something else.
  6. you could have said... At least they painted it bright yellow, that way it won't sneak up on you and give you a heart attack.
  7. Snake beat me to it.
  8. If I did Faceborg, I would "like" this news. You know... Denver isn't too far from Phoenix, maybe you could stop by on 9-April and enjoy the modelling festivities.
  9. I really enjoy being able to see your WIP photos and observe the build features and techniques. all the hinge assemblies look fantastic, the reshaping of the pillars makes a big difference in the appearance of this body style. the door jams are some of the best I've seen. will you be using BMF for the door sill plates or aluminum shim stock, or are those pieces included in the photo etch set?
  10. hey Danno, clean out your message box and send me a message. I have something regarding DSC-12 to discuss.
  11. I blame it on the "No snowflake will be left behind" system currently in place. This PC, namby-pamby system of pampering every child so their feelings don't get hurt does nothing to make them ready for everyday life let alone make them ready for a productive adult life that contributes meaningfully to local society. (dang that was a long sentence...and I really hated English class) We have doomed ourselves, most of the older generation is having to raise their grand and great-grand children due to humans that procreate with no thought given to the path they have chosen and the burden it places on other "responsible" adults related to them and in some cases unrelated to them. meh, I'm tired of ranting for a bit, on to the shiny stuff.
  12. for future reference... instead of taking a photo of a picture on your computer monitor, you can perform a "screen shot". to perform a screen shot (on a Windows PC, not sure about other brands), 1. hold down the shift key then press the "print screen" key then release both keys 2. open Paint (or any other graphics program), MS Word (or probably any other word processor program) then hold down the Ctrl key and press the Y key and release both keys. 3. you should see what was on your monitor (including icons and the task bar at the bottom of the screen) has been pasted into a file which you can save/edit. You can then upload it to a web photo site and link it to be seen here.
  13. based on the body meld, I would have called it a "Camstang".
  14. there is replacement wiring harness smoke for Lucas electrical systems.
  15. and replacing the piston return springs when your compression gets low... a failed "free floating pinion retainer" can cause your wheel to fall off, better get that replaced also. too much flish in your carb really gums it up, better rebuild it... no, really, there's one of those on your "FI" motor also, it helps the injectors work more efficiently.
  16. was able to get the starter changed in my wife's 96 Accord in under four hours while parked in the drive way, with no loss of blood.
  17. while it's apparent that few of that builders' models were "out of the box" it sure looks like the builder was thinking outside of the box. it looks like the desire to build a favorite style like long roofs is evident, the builder may not have been exposed to other models like most of us here and/or may have had limited tools and supplies to work with. I'm fairly certain that builder was having fun.
  18. well, at the risk of sounding defensive about not being defensive... there have been similar threads on this site before that degenerated into "I only build for fun, so I'm not going to add blah blah blah". I think the posts in this thread that were "on topic" had some great info for builders that want to be competitive in contests or just maybe want to build something that may add skills to their repertoire. I've got nothing against the builders that "build for fun", I get my inspiration from many places... even things that were built for fun.
  19. somehow, I just knew the word "fun" would end up in this thread... what is the logic that says a "technically correct" (and possibly well detailed) build is not (or can not) be one persons' version of "fun" ? I have "fun" doing real upholstery in my builds, I have "fun" figuring out how to make my door hinges look and act closer to the full size item. can't we just assume that everyone is having "fun" doing their builds whether the build is a slammer or a brass masterpiece? ( and maybe get back to the thread topic)
  20. sure looks like two different builds to me. similar but different.
  21. <----- Opening day, second show, 70mm projector, the perfect seat in the theater ..still have the "May the force be with you." button they were handing out. Initial thought was... How LONG is this ship coming in from the top of the screen?
  22. I bet you'll get more thread views by renaming the thread " '39 Pine Cone "...
  23. had jury duty today (not pleased about that), got released from jury duty before being chosen... in time to get home and get a nap before my twelve hour night shift.
  24. I would have thought it was from a Monogram kit since I've noticed a tendency of Monogram molding the oil pan as part of the block.
  25. I vote that we force all bean counters that advise companies to choose contract workers over permanent employees to be converted to contract status also. I wonder how long it will take them to change their tune when they have to look for a new job every twelve to eighteen months and have to get their own health insurance.
