  1. MPC sure has gotten some mileage out of that CJ5 mold! The biggest problem with these Auto Scapes kits was how much shelf space they took up! I had a couple of them and they where not easy to display, unless you had the room for them. I think I still have most of the Cuda somewhere in the stash.
  2. I have seen some old glue bombs that somehow have survived, but yes, they do get fragile over time. Pretty bad for a Slot Car.
  3. '68 Road Runner - Came pretty close back in the 80's, but the guy changed his mind at the last second to not sell it. It was only $1200 bucks!
  4. Just know that most Resin Cheetah kits are pulled or mastered off the Cox slot car body, and some are good, and some not so good.
  5. Yeah, I would not recommend that Hot Wheels Funny Car for a first time builder. That thing is a bit on the finicky side. And what!? No Coke AT-AT! Come on!
  6. Oh, my aching wallet!
  7. I agree, 125" was the norm at that time.
  8. One thing I noticed is that some of the stores have different prices on the same kits. One would think that they would all be the same across the board.
  9. I remember seeing model kits at 7-11 and other convenience stores back in the 70's and early 80's
  10. Maybe he was trying to convert it to a Revell Kit and make it a multi piece body! LOL! Oddly enough, that horrible little kit is also one of my favorites and luckily I still have one in the stash. I think the box art did it for me.
  11. Careful with those tires, they will eventually eat up those rims!
  12. Wish they could find this mold....
  13. What is with the sudden rash of selling disassembled Die Cast cars and charging way too much for them?
  14. Came out pretty nice! Nailing that color is not easy! I have been wanting to build this since the decals became available years ago. Too bad that this car is what caused the break up of Marcellus and Borsch. Mousey wanted to stick the Hemi from the altered into the funny car, but Willy was too hard headed and ran the Chevy. Willy said it kept breaking. The final straw was the photo shoot where Willy is shirtless. Mouse kept telling him to look a bit more professional to please the sponsor, Revell, and to put on the new shirts they made for the team, but Willy said he was hot and wasn't going to wear it! That is when Mousey walked away from the whole thing.
  15. Very cool build! I have the mortal remains of a Super Hemi somewhere, I should dig it up and slap it together sometime.
  16. One store near me seems to have restocked with an even bigger kit display! I really don't see them putting them on clearance anytime soon around here.
  17. Probably had it restored and shipped back to Japan for their shop over there. There is a shop north of me here in San Diego that handled high end Datsun restorations and I think it went through that shop. He had a couple of them in the shop at one time, but they didn't disclose who the owners where. I might ask them before they move out of the state early next year.
  18. The original Parts Pack chassis had what are basically the decals that are in the kit now, but, the Double Kit had the ones with the Revell logo, and some sponsors, on them. I am sure Atlantis does not want to promote another model company or pay royalties.
  19. ..fire sold separately!
