Atlantis & T.D. Unreal roller box art !!
Daddyfink replied to Mr mopar's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am very happy to finally have one again, but, I do wish they would have included the original decals for it. The new ones are nice, but I wanted that original look. Molding it in color is very period correct, not many of us kids had spray paints, or allowed near them! So for a kid, this works out great. I can primer and correct the color, but the decals, that is a different matter. Looking forwards to seeing more great re-issues from Atlantis! -
Found these at the LHS! They also had the Groovy Grader, but I already have one in the stash and I am way more excited about the Roller!

At Walmart (at least one store)
Daddyfink replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
So far I have only found them at one store out of three. So don't give up, someone has them out there. -
Motor trend super models

You can get the Motor Trend app through Amazon Prime and watch it that way And so much boo hoo about cutting up kits. Get over it, they are not yours, so don't worry about it. -
I used the Revell Parts Pack SBC to make it more period correct. The engine in the kit is the HEMI with those goofy valve covers and it is total junk. I also used a Tony Nancy FED front axle, AMT Garlits rear wheels and tires, parts box Moon tank and modified headers out of the Nancy kits. These threads on the H.A.M.B. have some great info on the real car. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/more-american-graffiti-dragster.123698/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/john-milners-dragster.432838/

Daddyfink replied to Classicgas's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Went to a different Walmart near me and found this! No display, but plenty of kits, and a few bucks less than my LHS. -
Given that the Revell Trike kits where last released by Revell AG, I am pretty sure they have most, if not all, of the bike kits from Revell, but, I this is just my opinion based on what I have seen

Well, you and I are not their intended target audience. They are there for the average Joe, or Joanne, who is looking for a gift, something to do, or relieve a bit of nostalgia, They get a deal with a model maker and run with a general, and current, selection of kits. Basic tools, paints and other small items, and that is all!

The only time we see those displays is during the Holidays, otherwise, nothing. -

I have the MT app and have seen all four episodes and I did find it entertaining and informative. It might not be the biggest voice for Model Car builders, but, it is one of the few out there. And I appreciate that MT and Steve are doing it. This show is more of a love letter to the hobby and than a full on how to. Shows someone enjoying building something interesting, like we should, and you get some cool info with it. Not a bad deal. Who knows, maybe I'll mail him a vintage kit for his hacking pleasure! LOL! -
I was quite surprised to find this at a Michael's store! And I just really went in to use the restroom, and took a quick look at the kits, and there it was. Sadly, almost every other kit is pretty old stuff, and very common stuff.

Did the HEMI come with the Nova wagon when it was originally stock? I know it came in the Buick kit And the only other time I saw that HEMI was in this heap So technically, yes, the Nova came with the HEMI! -
Seriously???!!!!!!

Did someone say "Flames and Skulls"? -
Nope, this Dart. But I think this is the body that got cut up to do the L.A. Dart

Model kits at HL might as well be candy at the check out aisle, an impulse type of buy for most. Only a few of us are really concerned with what they carry, most folks are not. I have helped someone in that aisle quite a few times to pick out a model for someone else. And most of the time they will just buy a diecast instead. As you plainly stated, they are just another Craft item to them.

Well, it seems your HL is way better stocked than mine.
-
Checked my local HL and there is nothing new, and only a very few Revell kits on the shelves. And it almost looks like the car area has shrunk a bit.

Well, if they can practically make a new kit out of the old Ertl International Transtar that is more correct, who knows, maybe they can at least do the body for the Van. But I am not holding my breath on it. But, at least they do have full detail interiors that can be used on the AMT Chevy Vans! But I do think they should bring back the MPC Off Road Ford vans at least. I have then sealed and I would love to have new ones for builders.
