    Ferrari 458

You just threw it together? Its outstanding! Lokks lovely in that yellow. Is this the Revell kit?
  5. Great to see one in orange. Probably one of my favourite Ferraris. I built this one as a kid, but your build is about a million times better than mine.
  6. Fantastic work Alex. Good looking model, and exceptional photography.

What a beast! Great build. Someone needs to do this in 1:1 scale.
  8. Lovely job. I think it looks oustanding. It seems you got rid of the door glass in the last picture - much better for it.
  9. The finish with that 2K is flawless.
  10. Great work on that hinge. Getting that to work properly must have been a challenge. Good thing about working with brass is that you'll never get any plastic 'creep'. That panel will open/close just as well in 10 years as it does now.
  11. Hi folks, I start a project - I add detail - I add more detail - I modify it too much and before I know it, I'm stuck in a rut and then never seem to get anything finished. Its always the same story! So, this time I've decided to build something straight out of the box and resist the temptation to modify or over detail things. If I cant get this finished in a few weeks there's no hope for me. I'm building Hasegawa's BMW 2002 tii. I've always liked these cars. I have early boyhood memories of going to see one with my dad at a used car lot. He did't buy that car but I wish he had. I'm going to try and stick with a factory colours as available for the Tii in 1971. This won't be the best model on my shelf - that's not my objective. I just want to practice a few new painting techniques, have a bit of fun and for once, just finish something. Wish me luck!
  12. Hi everyone. It’s been too long since I posted here, so here’s some more pictures I’ve found and somehow managed to put into date order. Remember these pics are work that was done about 6 years ago. A scoop found from the parts box. It took for ever to scrape the underside of the hood flat, leaving just the outer frame. This hood is going to represent a GRP item in the 1:1 world, so the majority of the frame is not required. If I were to do this again, I would flatten the complete underside and then add the outer frame – it would have been a lot easier. A quick mock up using some Cragar mag wheels from the parts box. This is the kind of wheel/tyre size I’ll end up with and the stance (hopefully!). I won’t be using these particular wheels, but they’ll do for the mock up. Again, a whole lot of scraping to get the underside of the boot lid to look right. Hinges are roughly cut from plastic sheet. Tacking the four hinges together makes it easy to file down and ensure they are exactly the same shape. Once shaping is complete they all get split apart… The hinges are complete. To be fair these are not truly in scale. These are the limitations of using plastic. I still want the hinges to be strong enough. One day I’ll figure a way of doing this in brass and then they can truly be to scale. Using a brass rod here to ensure the hinges are properly aligned. Boot (trunk?) lid hinges done and working with a satisfying precision. More pics to follow soon. I’ll get this thread up to date and then push forward with getting this one completed.
  13. Another job done impeccably well. Did you use a wash for the body panel lines? They look perfect - not too dark for a white body. How did you do that?
  14. I always liked this AMT kit for the accuracy of the body. Looking forward to seeing this come together. Hopefully the green plastic won't present any problems when painting yellow.
  15. Great work on this resin kit. It'll be good to see this under glass.
  16. Those 3d printed parts are amazing!
  17. Great looking interior. The tan paint mix looks perfect to me. Did you add something to the finish to give it a very slight sheen?
  18. For sure, I thought you would be vac forming a bonnet from plastic, but the brass panel is way better. Great work. Getting that compound curve right is no easy trick. Its hard enough on a 1:1 car, let alone in 1:24 scale. This is most impessive.
  19. Beautiful, clean build. Great colour!
  20. Love what you done here. If that engine is from a ZR1 Corvette, then its quite appropriate as GM had Lotus design the heads for this V8 back in 1989.
  21. Beautiful Cobra. Good work on opening the doors and trunk. Now all you need is a Ferrari Daytona to display alongside.
  22. That looks mean! Colour and stance is perfect. Chip would definately approve. Well done Martin.
  23. Not only a beautiful looking model, but if it were a 1:1, that's exactly how I would have built it. Very tasteful. What kit are the hood hinges from?
  24. Cutting that side glass must have been scary, but it came out well in the end. The yellow is looking great! I think it really suits the Esprit shape.
  25. That pink over black base looks stunning. I love the shape of the '59 hard top. This one will look amazing.
