Funny you should mention that. I was already planning a build that would update a classic Challenger with modern components. I guess I will paint it white and join in with the Vanishing Point Challenger. Good thing I have a year to do it in.

Bill, try soaking it in Dot 3 brake fluid, and only Dot 3. That seems to take paint off that purple power wont.

Just wondered if there is going to be a BRBO for 2020.

I have lurked for a couple of years, but just might join in this time. I have an idea...

Wow ! I have never seen anything like this before. I assume this is the metal that is falling apart under the paint? While I have no diecast collectables, I do have plenty of Hubley kits. Has this ever been known to happen to Hubley metal?

Yea, I think I have about 50 started projects....not counting all the ones just bagged. Many of those I hope will go on the block soon.

I was wondering when you would be getting back to it. I figured maybe too many Osh Kosh squirrels. ? Hey, you have the green KW fire engine from it. lol
-
No problem Bill, I have five...make that seven.

We ended up sorting out 13 rebuildable projects, not counting a couple Bill took home with him. I was also able to put together a complete Movin On kit (minus decals) after he left. Going to start on the Macks next and see if I can get a couple sorted out. Thanks again Bill !

I wanted to thank Bill and his 72sj for spending the afternoon with me helping to sort out some of this mess. I unpacked all the parts and this is what we started with.

I have been hanging around the diecast section way to much. This is the only 1/25 diecast I have, really other than a couple hot wheels type, my only diecast. I did not get it today, but bought it 10 years ago to strip it and build a replica of a 1:1 I worked on, but am now leaning towards getting a resin body if I ever get a round tuit at all.

Good question, lol. IIRC, it was a testors yellow over tamiya white primer, topped with testors high gloss clear.
-
Thanks everyone! I still want to do this with a Challenger someday as well.

Looking sharp! -
So as a kid in the mid '70s I was impressed with a Lime Green Challenger that was jacked up so high in the back that I could see the complete rear end housing hanging below everything else....while sitting in the back seat of my moms 65 Olds.... while parked directly behind the Challenger. That vision was what I had in mind when I built this GTX. I think I nailed the era. Shackled, air shocked, with really wide Cragers. Oh, and that Challenger was jacked MUCH higher than this one.

Here is mine, a Buddy Baker, aftermarket decals, an AMT 71 Charger body, generic AMT nascar chassis with some scratch built pieces and a parts box hemi. Not a correct reproduction by any means but it did capture the "look", and that is what I was after.
-
I wonder if its because you can build it as a hardtop or convertible and the roof is molded separately, that it gives that appearance. Thanks everyone. I have the Monogram also, but personally prefer the AMT. I gave this model to a friend and plan on building another one for myself.

Nice ! Now show us what your neighbor across the street drives. ?

Excellent color choice! The 59 Chevy has been a favorite car of mine, we have had four different ones in the family over the years.

This is the AMT kit with decals and exhaust from the Monogram kit and keystones from the parts box. Built loosely after a car a kid in my high school had. I sanded down the vinyl top and gave it an aftermarket flat resin hood.
