Now that is a great start, great finish on the paint!

Thanks Toast! Sprue Shots - and yes there are a lot of them. There is some mesh, a few decals, the rubber tyres look great, there are window masks too. I have bought some P/E, but it will be the only mod, except maybe seat belts. The body seems to be OK, but has some defects that need sanding out and filling in. It's also got a lot of moulding swirl marks that hopefully will not come through the primer...

Revell Porsche 911 Cabriolet (993) 1:24
Funkychiken replied to Funkychiken's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm on the final stretch with this one, probably 3 years after the 50th anniversary of the 911...! Only have to attach the body and sort out some windscreen wipers. However, the body is proving quite difficult to attach. The front bumper does not line up & has very little land to apply adhesive to, and part of the engine is in the way when you try to offer up the body, there is also a strip of styrene that is about 0.8mm high & 5cm long, on either side that is the only thing that keeps the body on. That may be fine, but the front window happens to clash with the dashboard, so I'm having to shave off bits of the interior to get it to fit. I'm also going to have to make some attachment flaps to have some land to actually glue too. Terrible design of this kit. I'm hoping Fujimi's 911 Enthusiast models are better... -
I'm starting this kit too, in an effort to get through the stash. It's going to be made with a P/E set. Sprue shots to follow.
-
So I wanted to complete an easy kit, to start getting through the stash - which keeps growing, and gives lots of ammunition to the better half, who keeps pointing out that I "can't take them with me". I bit premature to be saying that, but I'm sure I will not get the time to run through them all... Anyway, I was not happy with the interior, and started to hack it up. Wishing I didn't now, but will try and follow through and get this completed within 3 months....

Only progress on this job is that most of the parts are off the sprues, washed & ready for primer, the seats need some backing plates, and filling where there are major sink marks... The body is also prepped ready for primer, I'll do some spoon tests today if I get a chance....

This is the PE wiper blade, it's a pain to try to attach it to the car, that and the spin nuts are all that's left...
-
In the final stages of this build, and really like how this simple curbside is turning out. Very painful body exterior is now passable following some heavy (yet careful) polishing. Today I turned some alu tube into exhaust pipes, you can see the raw materials, the kit plastic pipes & the finished article superglued to the car. I onlyneeded a Scalpel, some sandpaper and a toothpick for tools...

High quality build! like the colour and the finish you have on the paint.
-
That paint has some shine! Looks great. Looks more like Brown than Cherry, but I like the colour anyway...

Good luck avoiding the orange peel, remember to try it on a test spoon first...
-
Great finish, every model is a lesson learnt for the next one...
-
Saving that looks like a lot of effort, but it paid off
-
Great build!
-
A lot of work went into this, and its turned out late
-
Wow, that's a fantastically clean looking finish, and the paint looks sweet...

Hi Simonr, I searched for Boston green, after looking through for sale car adds to get the colour description. I was, and maybe still am, worried about shooting it through the AB...
-
Only things left now are number plates (yet to be made), Exhaust pipes (currently being sprayed) and better quality photos, then this will be posted in the finished section!

And thanks to Mr Espo, It got me thinking, and I decided to go for Boston Green. Got this little bottle off eBay for about a fiver. The pic is the colour I'm aiming for
