Got a lot of bits and pieces painted for this project, I spent some time this morning doing the BMF, it’s amazing how much time foil chews up, lol. As always, thanks for looking.

Got the motor and frame installed, need to use a different air cleaner, as that one was too high ( one of the few things I didn’t test fit), but have another one, stripping the chrome of it now. Rear tire is just there for mock up , have to install exhaust before the rear suspension. Thanks for looking.

I should also mention, in regards to painting the hood, when spraying metallic paint, to get a match you can get it without having the hood on the car, I have found I just need to spray in the same direction, example, if you paint the body from the trunk forward, paint the hood from the back to front, it’s been working for me doing it this way.

For what it’s worth, when I paint, I use the quick and close method. I’m probably 3-4 inches away, and go rather quickly, start to spray a couple inches before the ‘target’ and spray past a few inches. I’ve found that doing it this way, I can lay down a fairly wet coat with good coverage, and no runs/sags or solvent pops. Took me awhile to get the feel, but once you do, most times your only enemy will be dust. hope this helps some.

As to the wheel wells, I don’t remember, seems they were black, possibly under coated. From that pic, I’d say the gray was primer, but that’s a guess on my part.

As the rear rails are part of the floor sheet metal, they would be red oxide as well. The leaf springs were black.

I got back into building in 2013, built the KW rig back then, and the pro star was done last fall.

Technically yesterday , but these were waiting for me when I got home ,

I can tell you that in my experience with 2nd gen Camaro’s the ones built in the Ohio plant got red oxide primer , and on other classic GM cars I’ve owned, seems like all the cars built in the ‘eastern’ regions got red oxide primer as well.

One would have thought maybe being AMT branded, they would’ve been a bit cheaper, guess not.

Hey all, I’m in search of a satin black ( in lacquer) that will play nice with flat black and gloss black lacquers. Also prefer something available in a rattle can, I’ve an idea for a build, but the satin black is the foundation color for it. So I ask you all, what have you found, or what technique have you used to achieve satin black?

Will be watching this one! I have one in color myself, it’s waiting it’s turn in line. love what you’ve got going so far.

I never used to think that that was such a bad looking kit, but after building 6 revell camaro’s at once, and then seeing your pics Snake, the proportions of it just jump right out at me now.........
