  1. Now that's a good idea Tom! There's me overthinking and missing the obvious again. lol
  2. Thank you Tim. And here we are with the dipstick assy installed: Just two heater hoses, the radiator hoses and clamps left to go........
  3. Pat I must have been a little tired before I went to bed because I didn't see the major difference there at first. At this point I would see myself as having two options. 1) Cut out the good spring tower area and cast a duplicate one in resin, then cut out the other side as close to the shape of your good side and glue in your resin copy. Then re-adhere your good side back in or 2) Try my luck (and this depends on how far along you are with the car body) with contacting the manufacturer of the resin body about getting a replacement body. You could "let it slide" which is a hard pill to swallow and depends on the time frame in which you want this done and the money involved.
  4. My thoughts go to a razor saw possibly. Is the first pic of the towers what it's supposed to look like?
  5. Thanks for the tip Tim and the vote of confidence. I haven't reached the point to where I can airbrush a clean gloss coat yet. Gimme flat colors and I'll do most anything you want but this high gloss business is all new to me. It'll take a little time but I'll eventually figure that out.
  6. That paint looks good so far Tim! Ah to be good enough to not wet sand. I aspire to reach that ability! lol
  7. Thanks Dan and Fred! My eyes told me about it for an hour or so afterwards. lol
  8. Here we are with today's update. I was thinking of doing it anyways and trying to figure out how to pull it off and Fred just tipped me over the edge with replicating a engine oil indicator tube and indicator (otherwise known as the dipstick). Fellas I think I pulled it off. I started with a piece of copper wire: Then drilled out the hole for the indicator to be secured in: The results of that: Then I took some thinner copper wire, hammered out the end and wrapped it around a drill bit to form the "hook": The trimmed the excess off a little bit and super glued it in to place................Walah!! (and "Whew! Glad that part's done!) Now to let that dry. I should be painting it either this afternoon or in the morning.
  9. Man this is first rate here Tom. I think I know where you are coming from with the picture taking. If I want to see all of my flaws and then some all I have to do is take a dang macro picture and all kinds of stuff pops out. I'm learning to take pictures, clean it all up and take some more pictures and then post them like a lot of folks already do here. As far as being asked why you are detailing a Volare, don't worry about that. This is some of the finest modeling I've seen. We all like the Camaros, Mustangs, Chargers, Vettes and all that stuff but something out of the ordinary like this breaks the pattern up a bit. Especially with the creativity/imagination shown here. Keep doing what you're doing and model on dude! You're making modelers proud here!
  10. I spy an A-Team van there! All are nice and the Road Warrior stuff is cool!!!
  11. Wayne:He's back!! And he's sportin' my favorite track of all time.................the legendary Tiger! The detail you throw into these builds is nothing short of amazing. Ira:This is just too cool! The imagination you throw into modeling is just phenomenal! Keep it coming!
  12. Ok. I felt up to posting tonight so here's one of the builds that I did as a teen. I can't remember exactly when I built this but I think it was around 17 or so (which makes this jewel around the 29 year old mark) . I took a Dodge Daytona OOB kit (it may have been a Snap-Tite) and converted it from a bone stock 4 cylinder car to this. To revamp this I'll need a complete front end , underbody and all that stuff from a Funny Car kit. Somehow the concept of a front end and steering linkage totally escaped me. lol I put a Hemi in it from another kit somewhere, Weld Draglites from somewhere and the front runners were out of a Jo-Han kit that I had. (I dunno the kind of car I robbed all the wheels and tires from). I made the light covers from scratch. To revamp this...............Man the ideas are overwhelming and I can hear the squirrels on the squeaky conveyer belt in my head! lol It did look cool at the time I built it though... The pink Hemi in the background was to be used for something. I even wired it up with sewing thread! lol (Hey , its all I knew to use at the time.) Will post the other two soon.
  13. Thanks Kevin! I picked up the final three builds from my parents house that I built in my teens. I'll post pics of those tomorrow when I feel more rested from the trip back home that my son and I made today. Tom:Thanks for the good word buddy! I'll be starting a 66 Barracuda Hemi Under Glass build next year ............that aint far away is it? I have a Bf109 to get through first before I make it to that one though.
  14. Great job on the garage and the gifting Pat! I'm sure that was one happy kid!! Nice job on the tires as well. Did you get those from that fella at fireball?
  15. Got a pic of the kit boxing Kevin? It sounds like the Revell kit to me with the option for both versions.
  16. This is nifty Ken!! The smoke effect on the tires puts the cherry on top of this one!
  17. Thanks Carl! All the encouragement is appreciated since this is my first "all out" automotive build (er rebuild). You guys are da bomb!!
  18. I'll be giving it a good look over this morning Tom as I'm not at home right now and have nothing else to do since I cant be at my bench . Thanks for the heads up and thanks again for the lead! (I don't know if I want to ask.........................but what happened?)
  19. That engine and interior look awesome man.
  20. Keep it coming Randy! Some amazing fabrication here.............
  21. Thanks Dan! That's without the Novus! I managed to pick this up today while out of town on a Christmas visit to my parents and little brother and his family...............
  22. Tom/Daniel:Got it today! Fortunately I was at the Wichita Falls HL while out of town and not the Corpus Christi location which has nothing. Thanks a million guys!
  23. I thought the same thing when I started applying mottle patterns but with the help of some skilled folks on the forums, I caught on. I'm a true believer in these forums and enjoy the company while I'm here learning. It's a do-able thing for you there Rich!
  24. Lee:Thank you sir! Tom:I appreciate the uplifting words bud! Hopefully I can wrap up the engine build before the end of the year and move on to the interior and body some more. Speaking of which I actually did make some progress on the body even though I'm 500 miles away from home right now. Being of the "diehard" mentality , I brought my car body and sanding pads with me. I managed to get rid of the paint runs just in front of the R/H rear wheel opening and the "speck" on the drivers door. Progress pics for today?................not a problem! As AC/DC says, "Can't hold me back!"
