AMT '67 Mustang Fastback-Now in Under Glass Section
mustang1989 replied to mustang1989's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks Andreas. Definitely having a good time with this one. -
I feel your pain brother. I built the '54 Panel Wagon from Revell's 1983 "Street Demons" release. What an unbelievably terrible kit. I pretty much got what I wanted the build to look like and felt pretty fair when the build was all said and done but MAN......talk about alot of work to get there. But then again......that's modeling.

This is looking great so far Bob. I first saw this kit in the Revell "Saints" line up and have always wanted it despite how difficult of a kit it is to build. Even back then it had a reputation as being a kit that needed alot of work. Looks like you're whuppin' her in to some good shape here.

Thanks Trevor. I know right??!! I've owned 3 of these cars and one 89 5.0 LX and my dang screen name is "mustang" for cryin' out loud. One would think that I would've already built one.....or two of these. -
Nice job working everything in so far. Love the look.
-
That turned out pretty dang good Rich. ?

Thanks Tony! Thank you for the kind words JR. I'm very certain that you will do this kit more than justice. Thank you Tim. It's been fairly tough the past month or so for me to get motivated enough to make it back to the bench but I'm coming back around as I really want to finish this , taking my time with it of course, and then getting back on the Platt Maverick build that I started. -
Man this is good!!! Fantastic work Tim.

Good LORD man!! -
Sorry for the VERY late reply but I'll be doing just that. Folks......I've got alot going on in real life and currently have my 67 Mustang Fastback build that looks like it's in its final stages but this build has REALLY been calling to me over the last couple of weeks. I've got two other builds that I've pondered building but somehow I am GOING to make this my next project.

What a beautiful car JR and thank you for the explanation on the Elmer's glue trick. I'm going to have to use that when I will need to get some new BMF.

Thanks Guido, Carl and Ian. Carl: I've always liked Acapulco Blue. Ian: Thank you for the very kind and encouraging words. I'm really enjoying putting all the extra TLC into this car. Got the color on the modified hood. -
I think I know where you're coming from in those first few sentences and I definitely agree with you on the "challenge" aspect. I've built kits that 75% of folks out there wouldn't even touch because of the "terrible kit" factor and while it is a lot of work to bring kits like this one up near to the same level as some of the kits released these days, it is just that that puts that personal touch in a model and yields a greater outcome. Will be watching this.....

That turned out great Mark!! Love the weathering!!!

1990 Mustang LX - SVT Cobra DOHC Powered! UPDATE! 1/22/23

All I can tell you is that it was indeed tough. I couldn't watch her drive away. I bought an old GMT400 soldier in her place which I drove around for the next 7 years before the performance bug hit me again but THAT......is a separate story. I still have that one now but it aint stock no more. ? -

Managed to get the decals to lay into place after a 1000 coats of Microsol. BMF progress... I then moved on to the fire wall which I had a definite problem with. I have the floor mats installed in the floor of the interior but will need to slip the interior tub up into the body when I get to that part ....someday. lol The problem with that is that I would've had to figure out how to get the floor mats on top of the foot boards of the interior. as well as to slip the body around the firewall "wings". Check it out: I decided to see if I could approach it from another angle by installing the firewall onto the front of the interior tub and slipping the whole thing up inside the body in the final assembly stage. The problem with that is that I would have to stretch the body around the firewall "wings" I was talking about. NOT something I care to do. So I merely cut these off. I'll come back to this later when I have the body installed and figure something out for some covering on the outside of the firewall. and here we are with the engine installed onto the chassis. Gonna run some brake lines from the master cylinder, a vacuum line from the brake booster to the back of the carburetor base plate & install the fan and we'll be pretty much done with this part. -

Thanks Mike. I really appreciate your supportive comments bro and I'm hopeful that everything goes as well as it can for your mom. I appreciate your comments as well Craig and will be looking up your build if there's a thread on it. Right you are brother and I have been. Took the 383 stroker motor out of my truck and dropped a VERY well built 406 SBC in it. Thanks Tony. I appreciate the comments bud. Thank you as well Lee. I've been back at the bench for a couple of weeks now but am just now getting on the forum. -

That detail work on your interior, chassis and engine are lookin' great Dennis. This thread makes me miss mine. I sold her off 12 years ago and remember all too well the fun that I had driving that car. She dyno'd out at 348 hp on motor and ran a best of 12.2 seconds @112 mph in the quarter which wasn't bad for the early 2000's. -
Lookin' good so far Dave!!
