  1. Coming along nicely......very nicely. Love all the fab work.
  2. You couldn't have picked harder colors to work with but it looks like you're doing well with them. Looks great so far Gareth.
  3. LOL!!! I bout fell out when I saw the Vise-Grips as the window crank. My dad had that "option" on his old '69 Chevrolet truck. Nice work so far.
  4. Some good work going on in this thread Dave.
  5. You've definitely got the stance down alright. Looks nice 'n aggressive. Btw......that 1:1 Camaro that your friend has looks bad a$$!!
  6. Glad to have you in here Francis. Been a while since I've been in here and it's also been a while since I've talked to you. Hope all is going well on your end brother. Went out of town for a quick getaway this last weekend with my wife and had a GREAT time just out and about with absolutely no demands on our time. Life's been crazy this year with one thing to do after another and it was sure nice to take a break together. Now that we're back home, I am glad to be building on this project again. This mornings progress. Still need to paint the breather cap on the rocker cover and the alternator bracket is NOT correct BUT...... I needed to do something with it to keep it from becoming the "mysterious floating alternator". I added a bolt head to the front of the alternator to simulate a through bolt into the adjustment bracket. I'm actually good with this as it adds another touch to the engine. Ignition & charging system electrical wiring coming next......
  7. I've worked with this chassis numerous times already so I'm used the "tricks" involved to get them to "behave". lol Got some work on the engine done. Still need to come back over the engine with a semi gloss coat though. Here's a quick mock up of where I'm at right now.....
  8. It's all in the details. Love it. Umm.....yeah.....I'll be watching this one!!!
  9. Lots of good work going into this spectacular build. WOW!!!
  10. Really glad to see you here JR!! I remember alot of your builds from over at SA and always liked what you did at the bench. Looking forward to this one old friend.
  11. I did two things. One to lower the stance and one to address the track offset issue. I cut the spindles off and relocated them higher with some plastic rod I had in the stash on the steering knuckles to lower it and while the spindles were off I sanded the mounting area for the spindle back to the pivot points on the knuckle to take care of the offset. It puts the tire back under the fender where it's supposed to be. If you look closely in this picture you can see what I'm talking about.
  12. Today saw the completion of the chassis. I recreated the body color overspray on the bottom as well. I should be able to start on the engine now.
  13. And it's for that reason right there that this is my go-to forum for knowledge and attaining new skills. Not only that but the vast majority of folks here are very kind and helpful. Looking forward to more progress on this beauty of a build Steve.
  14. Very cleanly built motor and nicely detailed so far!!!
  15. Heya Monty. Already addressed both concerns. I built this kit pretty close to 20 years ago and I noticed that. Terrible TERRIBLE look when built too so I didn't want to repeat the mistakes of the past. Thanks for the heads up though brutha.
  16. Yeppers......there goes my ADD again. Reading waaaay too quickly. Thanks for pointing that out.
  17. Thanks Rob. I hadn't thought about that for some strange reason but you're right. May haveta see if I can source a belt set up with a power steering pump. I'll be looking into this and thanks for pointing that out. I should know better as auto repair is what I do for a living. lol Thanks for your comments Dave. Good note on working on the exhaust system with the parts sprue still attached to the exhaust. Lots easier to work with it would seem......no pun intended. lol
  18. Thanks Bob!! It's been on mine now for 10 years. lol It's been a while since I've posted an update so I thought I'd give one here. The chassis and proper stance has been the topic of building over the course of the last couple of weeks. One of the things that surprised me was the Fords use of red oxide primer on the bottom side of these cars. Never saw any of that on any of mine but hey....by the time I got those cars it was a good 25 years on down the line. lol Just an FYI. I did end up getting ahold of Round 2 and asking for the proper Wide Oval white lettered tires. I talked to what sounded like a kid on the phone and it didn't appear that he knew too awful much about the product but was willing to help out. We'll see what I get in the mail. Chassis in progress without the exhaust on just yet: Speaking of exhaust systems, I'll be starting on that next so I can get the chassis part of this build behind me. One thing I notice alot of times on the bottom side of completed auto builds is the presence of seams on the exhaust pipes. These tend to be overlooked by some modelers so I thought I'd point these seams out on the exhaust pipes in this kit. I posted this on other forums and have to chose my audience when covering stuff like this but just in case there's anyone out there looking on that hasn't considered or hasn't thought of fixing the exhaust then I'll cover this in detail. This is freshly cut from the sprue so you can still see the sprue attachment point but check out those nasty seams on the exhaust pipes. Those......will be disappearing soon. More updates coming over the next few days on this subject.....
  19. I like the fact that you're making this into an LX and that you're using a mix of parts from each kit. Gonna make for a good finish.
  20. Thanks Ed!! Really appreciate the good word bud.
  21. Good lookin' Super 's Ken!!!
  22. Really love the whole look to this car Mike!! I already love Draglites so that was definitely a good move and then you add the paint job that's on this thing. Fantastic build brother.
  23. Do I ever remember seeing these things as a kid. Interiors were as roomy and comfy as a living room. Big ol' cushiony seats and LOTS of leg room. Good work on these!!
  24. I don't see stuff like this built up much so when they do come up I really enjoy looking at them. Very good work with both of these cars.
