  1. Been there, done that. I worked 50 hour weeks for the last five years before I retired. Not a lot of time or energy for modeling at that pace.
  2. The addition of the belt line and cowl trim adds a lot of detail and a more stock appearance to the cab. Good idea.
  3. Welcome aboard the best forums ever.
  4. Great way to show off a million dollar shine!
  5. IMHO the blanket for the seat has almost a waxy look to the surface so I would keep looking for another option. Great thread here that is a lot of fun to follow.
  6. I think I remember seeing this truck in that little watched horror movie" The giant baskets that invaded Las Vegas".
  7. A build to be proud of for sure. The real trucks were brand new the year I graduated from high school. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
  8. Thanks for that visual! Some things can't be un-seen you know!!
  9. Great project! Have you considered making the engines available in 1/25 th. I would definitely be interested in that. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
  10. Fascinating project. This will be real fun to watch develop.
  11. Great work. The proportions look very good. It will not take long to fill a display shelf or case with builds this size. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
  12. A quick Google search reveals the gas tank was not needed because the engines had no internal parts. The car was a show piece only.
  13. Great reference pix. Thanks for posting those!
  14. Happy 37th birthday Robert. I believe most builders would agree that the concept of being a craftsman changes with age and experience. I am more than double your age and still building. I still give every project the effort required to finish it to a level I am satisfied with and let those viewing it decide if the "craftsman" label applies. This still needs to be a fun and satisfying hobby.
  15. Everyone to their own opinion here and I for one think the original red drawing looks like a character from the Cars movie. Very cartoonish.
  16. After looking at these photos several times and looking beyond the obvious attraction of the buildings and the cars in the lot,I believe this business is new constructed on the site recently cleared of something older. The lots behind and on the left are covered in rubble and demolition debris. To the left one fellow seems to be emptying the wheel barrow onto one of the various piles. Just an observation of course not effecting the project at all.
  17. This project shows an obvious first hand knowledge of the equipment and procedures. Was this built using photos or "imagineering"? Either way the work, attention to detail and photography are top shelf quality. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.
  18. All scratch builders have different levels of various skills and techniques.I personally take great satisfaction in re-repurposing parts and pieces of completely unrelated things in my scratch built projects. An example currently under way is a model if a 19 foot 1937 Pierce Arrow Travelodge travel trailer. Like many trailers of that era it has an arched roof that is difficult for me to replicate. My solution to that has been to use sections of my wife's Anora-Epilta inhaler. She has COPD and this medication is part of her daily treatment. Each container has two shapes that help form the sections I need. I use my Dremel Stylus with a fine tooth rotary saw blade to excise the panels.
  19. I have been checking on-line for body dimensions for the speed deamon car. This morning I came across an advertisement for a hard back book being released soon detailing the complete history of the car. The book is not available yet but will surely be a great source of details for anyone wanting to build a model of it.
  20. Both those things are easily explained away. No weathering(1st.day on the track). No steering wheel(inferior fasteners broke+wheel came loose=wreck on track). See how easy that was.
  21. Nice work, not just another chopped Merc. Thanks for sharing.
