  1. Annual show with 800 tables of model kits, diecast and pretty much any toy you can think of for sale. If you are within a few hours drive it is worth the trip. It's at the Fairgrounds and I believe therre is a train show (separate admission) too. One of the model car clubs has a display in the lobby between the halls. This show is just once a year and I always come home with a bag full of goodies. I think the hours are 9-3 and it's $10 to get in but I'm not 100% sure - it's hard to find anything online about the show.
  2. They also show 1/43 and 1/24 versions. Hopefully the 1/8 version is not just a blown up 1/24 one but has the level of detail on par with Exoto. I have a lot of 1/43 GT40's but not a lot of 1/24 ones in diecast. With the popularity of Ford vs. Ferrari your would think someone would take the WIX car molds and do the complete 66 Lemans lineup.
  3. If you can post a picture of the model and the real car it would be helpful. First step would be to take part the model so you can paint just the body with primer and then the color coat. Use enamel or lacquer but do not mix the two. Let the paint dry a few days before putting everything back together. The stripes could be either tape, painted on or decals,. Finding the material may be a challenge unless you have a Hobby Lobby or craft store nearby. When you paint the body you will also want a stand of some sort so you can paint everything together. A coat hanger and masking tape works fine for a plastic kit but diecast is heavier so you may have to improvise with something else you can wedge in the underside of the body. Here's a picture of a diecast kit I started on but have not finished. Good luck and post any questions you have. There are many modelers here willing to help out.
  4. Very nice detailing. Is the 426 one big glob of plastic or decent looking? If is is toy-like, any possibility of an engine transplant?
  5. For the MarkIV it's either the 50 year old MPC or IMC/Testors kits or the more expensive resin kits. The MKIV's were built 30 years ago and the J-car more recently.
  6. Very nice on both counts. Those Gunze Cobra kits are okay but not worth $100+ when the HRM kit is so much better all around. I built the Gunze Cobra but like Bill G my HRM is still in the box. The race is on Bill.?
  7. There are a few more obscure ones and many resin ones (Renaissance and Lemans Miniatures) that are curbside. I build the Thunder and CMA resin kits a while ago. I used to build a lot of 1/43 as there are so many variations it's nearly impossible to build each car from every race. There's some diecast and 1/87 stuff in these pictures but this only scratches the surface of the 1/24 and 1/25 build and unbuilt kits also in the collection. I am looking forward to the 1/12 MENG kit and I wish someone would make a reasonably priced and accurate MarkII and MarkIV plastic kit with an engine and maybe even opening doors.
  8. Can you send me a PM with contact info. Thanks
  9. Here's a few of the R&M of MD parts created by Larry Boothe. I'm not positive those are his GT wheels. The convertible GTA is a one off conversion - sorry no plans to have resin copies made.
  10. I should have some unpainted ones of some of the parts used in the pictures above I can dig out and post pictures.
  11. Here's an older build with R&M of MD GT emblems, side vents, hood and rear panel. I cannot remember if it is Norm's grille also.
  12. Isn't that the truth.
  13. So I'm guessing about $50 based on this one. I guess I missed buying one of those.
  14. "Kevin l" has replied about five times in this post. ? Send him a PM. ?. There is probably a wait list.
  15. Looks like a great start. On my list is to do a T/A version but it's a really long list. Norm from R&M of MD did some nice dress up stuff for the AMT 67 fastback if you and anyone is interested. He did a grille, taillight panel and the side vents.
  16. Interested for sure.
  17. I was searching for what I know realize are your decals and this post came up. I cannot believe your stuff just walked away. That would make me pretty mad. Was the mystery ever solved? I bet some vendors keep stuff packed up until they move on to the next show.
  18. Do you know if the decals are still made. All I could find is a Fotki page but there are no pictures of this car.
  19. Now that's a Mustang I'd be interested in. Does someone make the decals. I would guess it is the Tope kit.
  20. Since it's pretty rare I think I'm going to figure out if would be that hard to replicate with a chassis that fits and another body like JC. Maybe he will find a caster as his body (69) seems to be the more popular one (vs the 70) and more accurate than the kit by blocking out the taillight panel, having the side scoops and filling in the exhaust cutout on the right side. Even the kit hood scoop looks too large compared to photos. I guess I'm not doing a very good job of "selling: the kit. ?
  21. Hmm. I'll have to think about that. Here's what I have altogether. It was built before and someone took the body apart. I think the only thing missing is the rear valance. I scrougened extra parts if needed from the Petty Dart kit. I did not pay much for it but this is one I only see them unbuilt on auction sites for stupid money so I snapped up this gluebomb.
  22. JC, Did you lose interest in this project? I have the original instruction sheet if that helps.
  23. I'll ask. Can this be downsized to a smaller scale like 1/25? Asking for a friend. ?
  24. Glad to hear. Post some pictures if you can. I know these pictures are too far away to zoom in on but for those of us in the Washington DC area we have the chance to buy his goodies almost every month.
  25. 2nd that one a new/revised tool. That's the only kit made that got the engine correct.
