  1. Nice glass case, In this economy keep an eye out for store closings as they will be selling the fixtures to gain some cash. Drug stores have fine pharmaceutical shelving that fit models well. I have acquired shelving from a drug store chain, WalMart, Bed Bath & Beyond,a gunsmith, and even a school library. Drug store shelving Display case when WalMart remodeled jewelry department. greg
  2. Nice looking project, Did you ever consider yellow and red rims instead of the gray and red? greg
  3. Looking good. You might want to scratch build a switch module that would go on top of the dash. A two way radio would be optional or a CB radio as around 59 2way radio was just getting around to being used. greg
  4. Your not going to believe this but I use windshield washer fluid shot through an air brush, then blow dry with air only out of brush. The cheaper the better for fluid as it's got less cleaner in it. greg
  5. Further information on the Z siren I now know where George Lukas got the Madolarian's face from.? greg
  6. Years ago Chrysler company had a bumper sticker for their workers that said 'I buy what I build'. I cut it up and made it say 'I build what I buy'. Had a hobby friend who had the mantra of buying three of the same kit. One to build, one to speculate, and one to hoard and did he hoard, left his family a nightmare. I've always said a bag of modeling clay is just that until the artist changes it into a piece of art. Build what you buy that's what the hobby is about. greg
  7. looks like the AMT Triumph knock off greg
  8. I finally found the real thing: Federal model Z siren: From F.F. Hicks collection greg
  9. Thanks for the info. I'll stick to chopping my Coca-Cola van apart. greg
  10. I need some information: greg
  11. Nice job. How long did it take you to remove the lower trim off the doors? Nice push bumper. Never understood why Lindberg never deleted the trim on the cop car model. greg
  12. Thank you for your service to the Country, Nice work on the Holmes. Years ago Phil Jensen did a 'how to' using parts from the AMT wrecker. I built mine years ago. Have you looked for a broken First Gear that might have been useful? greg
  13. So here are the cots. I don't have the latest from the 59 Caddy. greg
  14. My Hades on earth as a young builder: Slammed the Ford pick up to the floor, hated the 57 Chevy with all the opening features. Watched the wheels melt into the tires. greg
  15. Nice build. I like multi colored semis. greg
  16. The cot from the van is worse than the cot you have. The casted cot looks like mismatched parts off of the JoHan cot. If I'm up to it I'll post photos of the cots later. greg
  17. The only ambulance gurneys or cots that have kit origins are: AMT Chevy rescue van JoHan Cadillac ambulance MPC 1/20th scale Ford Van and now the AMT re pop 1959 Cadillac greg
  18. I would suggest contacting the Indianapolis Speedway Museum. The first race car with a rear view mirror. greg
  19. Isn't that an MPC Firebird? greg
  20. Now there is another interesting question. What was the last aluminum car that AMT made. I would conjecture that it was in the mid 50's as I believe the first plastic kits were 1958. I don't know when they switched to plastic promotionals. greg
  21. To have your most desirable model kit you've wanted in front of you and..................................... 1 You are unable to get box open 2 You have no glue, paint, or exacto knife. 3 Parts won't come off the trees 4 Loose parts fall further in the abyss 5 Directions are for another kit 6 Directions are in foreign language. add your own dilemma greg
  22. As I understand your question you mean the last production at Troy Michigan plant before being sold to Lindsey/Matchbox. Good question. greg.
  23. In regard to the entertainment center in the El Camino. It was in the original 3n1 kit and the 1997 release. It's disgusting that scoundrels are re boxing new released parts in old boxes and passing them off as original. I saw this in the EBay listings for the AMT kits. greg
