  1. Nice builds, he has lots to be proud of, as do you! Hopefully he keeps at it and continues to win more hardware~!
  2. A topic here became a little uncivil (for some, I guess) and one member here started spouting off here and as a result, some replies were edited or deleted. This person has been a long time member here and claims to be knowledgeable but yet took an opportunity to question several members who also replied to the topic. My replies were among those deleted as apparently they were seen as being inflammatory along with this "one member's". He goes on to make some more clueless comments and I guess because of his "standing" here, gets a pass. It's a shame because he isn't any better than the rest of us and in fact, due to his child like behavior, he showed his true colors.
  3. Thanks Steve, that is EXACTLY what I was referring to.
  4. They have shipped via USPS Priority Mail for years, don't expect that to change. If you ordered something from them before they closed down the website, you will get an email stating when your order is shipping.
  5. Jimmy Flintstone also offers something like that, I think he calls it the Power Master? Use an AMT snapfast Dodge pickup to complete it.
  6. Count me as one who didn't know that. Any examples of what they produce been built and shown here? Interesting that they have the wherewithal to buy into Moebius, never thought that Pegasus was a very big company. Should be interesting to see how the future shapes up for Moebius under this new ownership and what happens with Revell- do they remain a part of Hobbico or do they get sold again?
  7. I'd say that looks pretty darn spot on! Making me think about just buying one instead of building one.
  8. I saw his stuff on eBay and those wreckers look nice, might have to splurge and get one or two!
  9. The problem as I see it is simple- as a group, us modelers are cheap! We get all excited about running to Hobby Lobby trying to get clearance kits for $7, regardless of the quality or actual need for them. Once upon a time, HL carried Japanese kits and I remember buying some once they put them on clearance because at the time, paying $20+ for a kit (after the coupon) was considered crazy when you could get a Revell or AMT kit for $10 or less (after the coupon).
  10. Looks pretty good. I have seen those dump beds in lengths from 8'- 12', just depends on the wheelbase of the truck, what does that one measure out to be? I might try replicating that, doesn't look too difficult.
  11. That is one sweet looking build, so realistic weathering and details! Brings back memories of my Dad's old F-250 that I learned to drive stick shift in. Congrats on a great build.
  12. A good example would be some of the resin Malibu kits from the 78-82 years. Those kits never existed but some smart folks realized that the Revell Chevy Citation was very close and with some reworking, created a resin kit. While not an exact copy of an existing kit, and it did require some work on their behalf to come up with a good looking resin kit, it was similar to what Tim is describing here and no one (to my knowledge) has ever complained how a resin caster ripped off Revell. I am afraid the hobby is full of people who stocked up on Modelhaus product for nefarious reasons- either to re-sell at an inflated price or cast resin copies and then pass them off as their own- and we will see that around for a while. It could be a reason why no one has stepped up and bought the Modelhaus, figuring it's good name and reputation will be trashed by some greedy fast buck types and make it difficult to recoup their investment.
  13. Most of the recent issues from Moebius have a MSRP of $34.95 or higher, which is more than Revell. I won't include Round 2 because they have only a couple of new releases. I have no problem paying the higher price as they have hit on subjects never before seen and are in demand, but when they come with warped hoods, mis-aligned body parts and dimensions that are off, how much more should we have to pay? Most of what ails these kits can be remedied by most modelers and only the most anal retentive among us throw their hands up and refuse to build them, but it would be nice to not have to fix something that was developed in modern times.
  14. Yup, remove the clearance sticker, leave the original sticker and hope the buyer isn't aware of what's going on. Most of those kits can be found on HL website for 40% off in their clearance section. Not as good as of a deal if you were able to get them at the store, but still a decent price!
  15. What he said^^^^^^^^ ! I asked about this kit and heard nothing, surprising since they showed the 4x4 version last fall as a built box model.
  16. Both Earnhardt and Force can be credited with helping their series gain popularity due to their desire to win. I think in the case of Earnhardt's death, you are seeing drivers retire at a much earlier age so they can enjoy life. His son is a perfect example- retires wealthy, healthy and has a second career lined up as a TV commentator.
  17. The Modelhaus offered resin kits of the 58/59 trucks, not sure if anyone else has/does?
  18. Nice job getting everything to look factory. I would imagine that truck would need some ballast in the bed to keep the wheels on the ground!
  19. Those things caught my eye too! I owned an 82, 88 and a 91 and while I would love to build this kit, I think I will pass as the obvious details that are wrong are a deal breaker for me.
  20. Very nice and clean, excellent details. Those wheels look great on that truck.
  21. Like all of your builds, very impressive! Love the color and the stance had me fooled until you said it wasn't 4wd!
  22. The problem with the 64-66 Revell Chevy pickup is that it is a half ton chassis and the rear end is no where near correct. It uses the trailing arm rear suspension and you will need a leaf spring type along with a HD rear end assembly. It might be a good starting point, don't know for sure. The deserter chassis is more accurate, you could probably use the rear end after you scratch build some new rear leaf springs. The front suspension from one of the recent GM Van kits would be your best bet for a 2wd. Make sure you cut out the wheel wells if you are using one of the AMT/MPC 72 Chevy kits, they are incorrect and the ones on the deserter chassis are a better match.
  23. I sold about 70 models last summer and it cost me $130 to ship them from Charlotte to Maryland via UPS. I considered the post office but figured UPS deals with larger packages all the time and was the better choice for them to arrive intact, which they did. I would think this out clearly and decide if you really need to have ALL of the models shipped to you now, or will you be returning periodically to Dallas and could possibly get them then?
  24. Welcome to the forum! I am in Charlotte. There are some shows coming up over the next 6 months that you might want to attend.
  25. Looks pretty good. I have seen those dump beds in lengths from 8'- 12', just depends on the wheelbase of the truck. As far as width, they tend to be a foot wider on each side of the cab and sit over the dual rear wheels. I would say your's is looking pretty good, maybe shorten the front and the tailgate and the length and away you go! I am working on some ideas, I will try to finalize them while I travel this week and see about starting on my build.
