1/25 AMT 1970.5 Camaro Z28 - Full Bumper
mikemodeler replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Not sure, but maybe someone like Chief Joseph at Fireball Modelworks will develop the wheels/hubcaps needed to turn this into a plain Jane. -
1/25 AMT 1970.5 Camaro Z28 - Full Bumper
mikemodeler replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It would definitely be a better starting point than the Trans Am motor. I am not sure if that Trumpeter had a generator or an alternator, that would be the only thing I can think of that would need to be changed. I think MCW had a Chevy L-6 resin engine available. -
Issue #206, Contest Issue, MAILED!!!
mikemodeler replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's about an hour in good traffic, I'm lazy, I'll order it online if necessary. I've been to that store in the past, everything is MSRP and the staff seems more interested in R/C than anything else. -
Issue #206, Contest Issue, MAILED!!!

Gregg, any chance they can be ordered online? No hobby shops in my area for at least 100 miles, unless you know of one in the Charlotte NC area. -
Chip Foose personal FD-100
mikemodeler replied to mrm's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
That is why I have several of these kits- to steal parts from! I have used the 50% off coupon at Michael's to grab one and also the 40% off coupon at HL. Nice work on this, that paint job is awesome! -
Upcoming Car Kit News from NNL Motor City
mikemodeler replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I thought those got caught up in some licensing snags, no? I would love to see them, someday! If that Land Rover kit was the shorter wheelbase I would be all over it. One can hope that they bring it back some day soon. -
I saw some stuff on eBay and might actually make a purchase but was wondering what the quality is like on products from HoppersBazaar? They show some resin wheels that look ideal for a build I have in mind and before I make a purchase, thought I would ask here what others have experienced? TIA

Yes, thank you to all who have defended our country and freedom. As the father of a deployed soldier, I can honestly say that I my child heard a calling to serve and is doing so proudly in a part of the world that is not the friendliest towards the USA. I also am glad to see our soldiers return from service to a nation that welcomes them and shows appreciation. There was an ugly time in our history where citizens and celebrities treated our soldiers with a lot of disrespect and as a result, there are many veterans out there who had to endure abuse that was uncalled for. We have many Vietnam veterans here on this forum and to them I say "Welcome Home".

Anything New at Hobby Lobby?
mikemodeler replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hobby Lobby will likely run their usual 30% off of kits after Thanksgiving thru Christmas. Don't expect any resets to happen during the holiday season, maybe January or February. -
I had been going through my PM messages and ran across the ones we sent back and forth as he was fighting for his life. Gave me a chill and brought a tear to my eye to read those words from him and think about how he fought so hard. I miss his contributions he made here and elsewhere to better the hobby. A fine man gone too soon who is dearly missed.

SCMA 2020 "Hope it Don't snow" Show and Contest
mikemodeler replied to Drgon63's topic in Contests and Shows
Always a great show and the host club does a great job with all aspects. The hotel is really nice and the room that the show is in is HUGE! Don't miss this show! -
After a much anticipated wait, any chance Gregg can share some pictures of issue # 206 that went to the printer earlier this month? Any word on if it will be available to purchase for non-subscribers and where? Anxious to see the mag and do not have a local hobby shop to pick it up at.

The mother load...........
mikemodeler replied to Zen's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Likely won't find one buyer to take it all unless the seller is willing to settle for 30-40 cents on the dollar. There is so much there that honestly it would be in her best interest to separate the different scale diecast from the toys and plastic models and try to sell it that way. -
Started a new master...

That is going to be huge, in many ways! Nice work Tom! -
2020 Round2 Car Kit News & Announcements
mikemodeler replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Nothing on that list will get my wallet opened. I know it's asking a lot, but they could look through their tooling and find something that hasn't been around in awhile and really make a bunch of modelers happy. -
Tower Hobbies show the new full bumper kit arriving late December for $27.99 and the older split bumper kit in stock for $15.99.

Ollie's strike again
mikemodeler replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Might grab one of the 2006 Camaros for the wheels and if the IH4300 is there, one of those too. I had my eye on the 55 Corvette because of the wheels, anyone have a picture of them? -
Ollie's strike again
mikemodeler replied to GLMFAA1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That explains it! I will have to try again when I get back home this weekend. Might have to get a IH 4300!
