Hobby Lobby Summer 19 clearance
mikemodeler replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Found myself in Oklahoma City today for work and figured the HL stores in the city of their headquarters would be the ones that would have the most up-to-date planograms and if there was anything new, these stores would be the first to have it. Well, guess what? It's the same here as it is elsewhere folks! Same diecast creeping into the plastic section. What is interesting is the variance in prices I have seen. Last week in NC I grabbed a Revell 68 Chevelle at a HL that was marked $22.99 and here it was $29.99. I am thinking someone in NC mis-marked that kit because I could have sworn I saw it at other stores for $29.99. They had a 65 and 68 El Camino kit in the clearance section for $14.99 each so I grabbed them because I can't help myself. They had a Foose F-100 for $6.75, but it was missing the chrome so I passed on it. Now to figure out how to get those kits into my suitcase for the plane ride home! -

To add to this, sometimes the written word is interpreted the opposite of what was intended as one cannot "get" the sarcasm, inflection or other subtle hints one may give while speaking in person. The other problem, as I see it, is that some people WANT to believe that only their point of view is the right one and will flog a dead horse defending their point of view endlessly. -

I agree with your intentions, but ultimately it is up to Gregg and not what any of us think, know or suggest that will change the situation of the magazine. -

That is an awesome job, I have yet to start on my Fireball conversion but this might get me going! -

Revell Land Rover Series 3 109 inch

I would be all over this if it was the SWB version. Drove one in high school at the Mercedes dealer, never got a speeding ticket, also never got stuck and Lord knows it wasn't for a lack of effort! -
Sorry for your loss Jim, losing your mother or any close family member hurts big time. In the last 5 years I have lost my parents and oldest brother and while I do remember the happy times, it still stings to not have them here to talk to. Take solace in the fact she led a long life, saw many things and is in a better place now.

Once again Gregg has had some real life issues, like many of us do, and that is the explanation as to why we are still waiting on the magazine. My thought on it is this: If the struggle to balance life and getting the magazine out is overwhelming, why not ask for help in getting the magazine to print and let the magazine get back on track? As has been stated, it's been a long time since we saw an issue and looks to be more of a wait to the next one.

There are a couple of members here who have a personal relationship with Ed Sexton, maybe they can reach out to him and see what, if anything, can be done. -
History of Monogram's Squarebody GM Pickups
mikemodeler replied to Fabrux's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I have the Sherriff's Jimmy and one of the Mad Mudder kits and while there is a lot of similar parts, if they damaged the molds for the roof then that is probably the reason why we haven't seen a stock version since. The hood, bumpers and other miscellaneous parts could be sourced from other kits like the pickups but the roof is biggest holdup. -
New 1976 4x4 Chevy pickup
mikemodeler replied to fordf-100's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's a great kit and builds up decently. Only version is stock but has nice details and the decal sheet is impressive. The tires are the same Goodyear Tracker-AT tires that are in the GMC Plow Truck kit and the Jeep CJ-7 kits. I mention that only because the wheels are interchangeable if you want a different look. -
I have a solution to your problem and it will feed your family for a while and provide a nice pelt!

Harry Pristovnik's Pocher Bugatti T50
mikemodeler replied to Bugatti Fan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
She joined here around the time of Harry's passing, might want to search for her and ask her directly. I think her screen name was Amy P. This place really misses Harry and all that he brought to it. -

Nice build and absolutely beautiful detailing! That paint is perfect and the interior looks like a real truck. -
Or when he was selling resin Bronco kits for $50 a few years back?
-
That was three months ago Bob and not a word since regarding the magazine, thus my suggestion that more revenue streams should be considered. If he did raise the $30,000 thru the lifetime subscriptions, and had a couple of issues ready to print, don't you think we would have seen a magazine or at least heard about it by now?
-
I think Gregg should re-examine the prospect of allowing selling here as a means to support the magazine. He has openly stated that it takes money to print it and pay contributors for the content and the advertising revenue he gets doesn't come close to covering the costs. I agree that it would cause problems and having someone be the "resolution manager" would mean time and money, but if they were paid from the proceeds of being able to sell here, maybe that would solve a lot of problems. I know I will get blasted for this post, but does anyone have any other ideas for Gregg to generate a revenue stream to get the magazine back in print?

Moebius Uitlity Bed On A 97 F150
mikemodeler replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I have been thinking the same thing, also thinking about building one like that with the Modelhaus utility bed and a dual wheel kit from Scenes Unlimited. -
MPC offered kits of Ford 4x4 vans and I believe Revell offered a Chevy. IIRC they converted the frame to 4wd using other kit parts, much like what I would figure they did in the 1:1 world. Should not be too hard to build a replica of this van using common kit parts. You might also want to Google Pathfinder conversions, they were another company that converted vans into 4wd in the 70's.
