In the truck section there is a build going on right now of a 4x4 "burban and I am sure if you contacted the member, he would share with you how he did his. I am not aware of any resin conversions, but one of the Olson Bros. built one as well and it may be something they are looking to do. Just as a FYI, the MPC Deserter pickup can be built at stock height. The 'lift" is a result of extended shackles to raise truck, so it is up to you if you want it stock or lifted. It may be suitable as a drivetrain donor to convert the Burban, haven't looked at it yet.

1966 Ford F250 Service Truck
mikemodeler replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
I was wondering earlier today when we would see one of these trucks built and BAM! Chuck to the rescue! Nice job, love the updates and the ladder rack is a nice touch. Thanks for the inspiration Chuck, gotta get my butt building! -
Testors and Model Master

Are they both same type pf paint? (Lacquer or enamel) As Jim mentioned, do a test on a scrap piece to see. -

Very brave to step out of your comfort zone Jim! Nice work and I am sure it was quite the learning experience, many of us might not be as adventurous! -

megahobby back order
mikemodeler replied to s10chevypu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Checked the MegaHobby website today and they show these available for shipping. They did bump the price up a dollar from when I pre-ordered them in February. -
Would love to find a kit of one of these a bit more reasonably priced. I drove one of these in high school working at the Mercedes/BMW dealer, we used it to pull cars in from the back lot and run errands. Never worried about getting a speeding ticket, but it had no problem going thru snow or mud!

Uhhh, I don't know, that resin caster seems a bit sketchy.........JK, he's one of the best!

megahobby back order
mikemodeler replied to s10chevypu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just got an email from MegaHobby that my pre-order of 2 kits is shipping today, so with any luck I will have them by Saturday. -
My thoughts exactly! Unless the car is on a mirrored base or displayed upside down, will it matter? I can see complaining about kit inaccuracies that are visible when displayed, but it was explained earlier by Tim Boyd why this kit has the wrong rear end in it.

Body dimensions are off, rear taillight panel is off, I could go on and on but if you are looking for a 69 Camaro kit, Revell is the way to go.

That is one turd that no amount of polish will help. Not even sure if it's worth buying for some of the parts (engine, wheels/tires) as the Revell kit is so much better in so many ways.

megahobby back order
mikemodeler replied to s10chevypu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I pre-ordered 2 of them around the same time. I emailed them the other day and got a response from their sales department that they should be shipping early July. Not sure why some places have them before others, but it ain't like I was needing them to build something this week! -

That orange dump truck was impressive looking and I wonder if the green one with all the chrome has ever been dirty? Thanks for sharing. -
mini-tub chassis anyone?
mikemodeler replied to djflyer's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Head to your local Hobby Lobby and with the 40% off coupon, you can buy a whole kit for around $10-12 that will have the tubbed chassis. A lot cheaper than a resin copy and you will have some spare parts to boot! -
Regular cab for Monogram ‘91 F-350?

That gives me an idea on how to build a couple of wreckers I was planning, thanks for the idea of cutting the cab at the door! -
1976 International Scout II
mikemodeler replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Excellent work as always Chuck! Love the grafted on panel and weathering. I remember seeing two year old Scouts back in the 70's living in Northern Illinois that had more rust on them then 10 year old Scouts! -
Lifetime Subscription Progress

Just a thought I had today about the long term survival of the magazine and I know it might be a complicated one but here goes: What if Gregg was to allow the selling of kits here and charged a small fee to use toward supporting the magazine and this forum? -

So maybe the hobby shop employee had misinformation and caused a stir unnecessarily? Wouldn't be the first time.
