  1. A modern wrecker body would be most welcome as would one of the older Holmes beds- 440, 500, 600 or 750!
  2. That looks great Jim, just might have to get another Utility Bed kit!
  3. Nice job, as usual, in building a weathered kit.
  4. Nope, it is the new Moebius/Model King release. Really nice utility bed and kit overall.
  5. I built one of those Model King Vega re-issues a few years back and would rather see a stock version of the Vega. '71-73 model years would be nice but likely won't be that lucky.
  6. There is no money to be made on a stripped down truck, that is why you don't see them on the lot unless it is a dealer that supplies fleets and he has some for that purpose.
  7. I have seen people do the same thing when Ollie's has a clearance sale. Someone at a hobby show a couple of years ago was trying to sell $5 kits for $15!
  8. Considering the Revell kit has the bed molded as one piece, not sure how to replicate the front header and floor with butchering up a kit bed. I am thinking if you had a resin one piece bed or even if you had it as 5 pieces (2 sides, header, floor and tailgate), it might be a better seller, and I know I would buy one or two myself.
  9. Doesn't look too bad from here, like those tires on those wheels!
  10. Did you try calling them to ask where one can find coupons? I have seen that as well but do not order regularly from MRU so I never bothered to inquire.
  11. If you open the hood, make sure your "710" cap is on tight!
  12. Actually it is 75% off tagged price. Nice to get kits for $7.50, but unfortunately most stores are cleared out within hours of the markdowns. It is nice to know that HL can mark down kits 75% and still make money!
  13. Heard it is going to have Coca Cola decals in it, like everything AMT!
  14. Got my order from Danny at Scenes Unlimited today, although I won't be home until Friday. Have an order coming from Fireball and Olson Bros too, looking forward to seeing them soon!
  15. I have thought the same thing, just haven't had the time to mock it up as I have both the F-100 Utility Bed kit and a Fireball conversion kit.
  16. Let's see the long awaited return of the magazine first. I was under the impression that Gregg has been assembling several issues and the last part of them was to raise the cash to print them. Allegedly the subscriptions are sold out ( and a few extras were bought too) so all that should be left is to print and mail the magazine. I understand that printing a magazine isn't the same as going down to Staples and making a few copies, but it sure would be nice to get an update from Gregg, maybe even a teaser of what to expect.
  17. Later this year the Buick GNX will be out, that would make for a great engine swap. Otherwise maybe a late model Z motor swap?
  18. Went to two different HL today, one had some kits left on markdown while the other hadn't done theirs yet. Snagged a IH Scout, need some parts from it and also grabbed another Mountain Goat, likely for parts to rebuild some other Jeeps.
  19. Today has a different feel for me, most likely because my son's National Guard unit is in training for their overseas deployment later this year. In years past we would celebrate today by attending a parade as a family and watching fireworks, all while knowing that our freedom has come at a heavy price. Starting as a Freshman in HS JROTC, my son has been involved in the military for 10 years now and it truly is his calling as he has known this is what he's wanted to do for a long time. We are proud of his decision to serve, sad because today doesn't feel the same and know that next July 4th will be like today as he will still be deployed, but know in our hearts that he is where he wants to be. I am thankful for our vets who have done what so few of us are/were willing to do. To our members here who are vets, thank you.
  20. Maybe once Gregg gets the magazine back up and running an article/interview with someone at HL HQ about how they decide what to carry could be done? I find it interesting that some kits you wouldn't think would be there are and ones you expect to be there aren't.
  21. Just got "the other mag" yesterday and it had me wondering how much longer before Gregg is able to publish and distribute the magazine? I sure hope his silence is an indication of how busy he has been getting the issues ready!
  22. Found some stuff that will definitely get my lunch money! I see the longbed panels for the 60-66 GM trucks, do you have plans to make the bed floor too?
  23. Nice job on that old pickup. I am sure it will be appreciated!
  24. That is true, if one is striving for period correct drivetrain. That Dana 60 is available in resin if one doesn't want to buy a whole kit just for a rear end. I think all of the parts might be available at B-N-L resin.
  25. For most of us, mastering a good or great paint job is one of the hardest parts of this hobby. My only advice is to practice, practice, practice! Find a particular brand and master it. I use a lot of Tamiya spray cans as I get good results but have also had my problems when I rush it. Many times I get a great shine from Tamiya paints without clear coating and forgo doing so at the risk of ruining them. If you build for yourself like I do, then trying to get an award winning shine isn't as important as completing the build.
