  1. Nice job on those three and great save on the glue bombs!
  2. Nice work so far, thanks for sharing the tips!
  3. nice work and love the details. I would be interested in some of the pieces when you have the website up and running.
  4. Nice job as always on the rust and weathering Chuck!
  5. That is a trans/transfer case from the '70's. almost looks like the one in the AMT 72 Blazer.
  6. That orange dump truck was impressive looking and I wonder if the green one with all the chrome has ever been dirty? Thanks for sharing.
  7. Head to your local Hobby Lobby and with the 40% off coupon, you can buy a whole kit for around $10-12 that will have the tubbed chassis. A lot cheaper than a resin copy and you will have some spare parts to boot!
  8. That gives me an idea on how to build a couple of wreckers I was planning, thanks for the idea of cutting the cab at the door!
  9. Very nice! The work is so clean you can't tell it's not a kit!
  10. Excellent work as always Chuck! Love the grafted on panel and weathering. I remember seeing two year old Scouts back in the 70's living in Northern Illinois that had more rust on them then 10 year old Scouts!
  11. Just a thought I had today about the long term survival of the magazine and I know it might be a complicated one but here goes: What if Gregg was to allow the selling of kits here and charged a small fee to use toward supporting the magazine and this forum?
  12. So maybe the hobby shop employee had misinformation and caused a stir unnecessarily? Wouldn't be the first time.
  13. Sometimes the answers to our questions are found elsewhere. As you discovered in this thread, 90% of the responses had nothing to do with your question, as is the case most of the time. I would go ahead and call Testors, I doubt it would jinx your war and you might be surprised at their response!
  14. Sadly, it is the way of forums and keyboard warriors having to chime in on every subject as self appointed "experts". Not aware of anyone from Testors being a forum member so likely not going to get a true insider's word, although there are a few here who would gladly claim "to know someone on the inside who told me......" A quick Google search revealed no less than 5 other forums discussing this subject as far back as almost 2 years ago. Testors has a tech line - 800-837-8677 and is available 7 AM- 6 PM CDT Monday - Friday. I suggest calling them in the morning and getting an answer from the manufacturer.
  15. Yes, the wheel well openings are different, be sure to make sure you address them!
  16. I don't believe there was ever a kit of the 87-91 body style that had a standard cab. There were 80-86 cabs and 92-96 cabs so your best bet is to cut the cab down.
  17. I like where this is headed, should be a nice off road hot rod!
  18. I believe the cars used a 170 or 200 inline 6, as did the Bronco.
  19. I know he recently moved so it might take a bit longer than usual but he is one of the good ones. He is here under his name- Kris Morgan- and a simple PM could answer your questions.
  20. Well, Gregg said if he could raise the funding, he could get 3-4 magazines out and I am pretty sure he has been assembling content for this so hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised Jim. I know a lot of people are hoping this is going to happen and it sounds like it could.
  21. Saw where Gregg has sold out the lifetime subs for the magazine, can't wait to see the magazine back!
  22. So we should see a magazine sooner rather than later, given Gregg's optimism in his original post. Sure hope the new plan can sustain the continuation of the magazine, would hate for it to not.
  23. I think in the long run you would be better off building something smaller. That is 3 feet wide, over 3 feet tall and 2 and half feet deep, much too large for model bodies unless you are building big scale (1/8, 1/12) size vehicles. The plastic totes in the beginning of this thread are more than ample for most bodies and cheap to source, especially if you have a Big Lots nearby. Adapting a fan that is explosion proof to this setup would likely be costly due to the size.
  24. That is designed for water based (acrylic) type paints only and is quite large, although inexpensive.
  25. Funny how a color looks one shade and after clearing it, a totally different one! Nice work as usual Bill, you seem to be able to crank out these restorations quickly and cleanly. As for the tree and birds, I would either get a car cover or borrow a chainsaw!
