  1. Sometimes the answers to our questions are found elsewhere. As you discovered in this thread, 90% of the responses had nothing to do with your question, as is the case most of the time. I would go ahead and call Testors, I doubt it would jinx your war and you might be surprised at their response!
  2. Sadly, it is the way of forums and keyboard warriors having to chime in on every subject as self appointed "experts". Not aware of anyone from Testors being a forum member so likely not going to get a true insider's word, although there are a few here who would gladly claim "to know someone on the inside who told me......" A quick Google search revealed no less than 5 other forums discussing this subject as far back as almost 2 years ago. Testors has a tech line - 800-837-8677 and is available 7 AM- 6 PM CDT Monday - Friday. I suggest calling them in the morning and getting an answer from the manufacturer.
  3. Yes, the wheel well openings are different, be sure to make sure you address them!
  4. I don't believe there was ever a kit of the 87-91 body style that had a standard cab. There were 80-86 cabs and 92-96 cabs so your best bet is to cut the cab down.
  5. I like where this is headed, should be a nice off road hot rod!
  6. I believe the cars used a 170 or 200 inline 6, as did the Bronco.
  7. I know he recently moved so it might take a bit longer than usual but he is one of the good ones. He is here under his name- Kris Morgan- and a simple PM could answer your questions.
  8. Well, Gregg said if he could raise the funding, he could get 3-4 magazines out and I am pretty sure he has been assembling content for this so hopefully you will be pleasantly surprised Jim. I know a lot of people are hoping this is going to happen and it sounds like it could.
  9. Saw where Gregg has sold out the lifetime subs for the magazine, can't wait to see the magazine back!
  10. So we should see a magazine sooner rather than later, given Gregg's optimism in his original post. Sure hope the new plan can sustain the continuation of the magazine, would hate for it to not.
  11. I think in the long run you would be better off building something smaller. That is 3 feet wide, over 3 feet tall and 2 and half feet deep, much too large for model bodies unless you are building big scale (1/8, 1/12) size vehicles. The plastic totes in the beginning of this thread are more than ample for most bodies and cheap to source, especially if you have a Big Lots nearby. Adapting a fan that is explosion proof to this setup would likely be costly due to the size.
  12. That is designed for water based (acrylic) type paints only and is quite large, although inexpensive.
  13. Funny how a color looks one shade and after clearing it, a totally different one! Nice work as usual Bill, you seem to be able to crank out these restorations quickly and cleanly. As for the tree and birds, I would either get a car cover or borrow a chainsaw!
  14. Any word on when the service bed version will ship? I know a lot of places have it listed as June but was kinda curious as I have had mine on order since February.
  15. Harry P would be very happy to see your work, and he would chide us for not using these on our builds.
  16. I will have to disagree Tom. I work for a manufacturing company and I can tell you situations like the one going on with tariffs get the attention and accountants are tasked to provide what different scenarios will impact the operation. They might not want to sound the alarm, but companies who rely on product from a foreign country monitor these situations very closely.
  17. The 2wd Chevy stepside Revell kit is not an accurate representation of a correct chassis. The AMT Blazer kit (snap kit) has a more accurate body and includes the roof. Someone once cast a resin roof for the Mad Mudder, but I believe they are out of business. Not aware of any kits that would have a roof for it.
  18. Congrats on your retirement and best of luck with balancing the casting biz and enjoying not having to report to work every day! Looking forward to seeing what new stuff you create in the workshop for us!
  19. Lot's of speculation but nothing really substantial from people who work in the model industry, hopefully someone will chime in with facts and useful information.
  20. Was at Hobby Lobby today, shocked to see the current Revell 57 Chevy Snap Fast kit, which has been around for years, in new box art with a price of $22.99. Yes, 40% off will work, so the kit becomes $13.79 plus tax, but considering it's shelf price has go over the $20 mark, what does that mean for the rest of kits? The AMT Coca Cola 57 Chevy Cameo is $32.99 and you can bet that increase is due to licensing fees. It would be nice to have someone from a hobby distributor or manufacturer chime in and let us know what they are seeing as possible price increases. At this rate, I might be better off NOT selling any more kits, I might need them to build if I can't afford to buy new releases.
  21. Another great job! Love the weathering and updates you did.
  22. Glad to see you back at it and nice job on the weathering!
  23. Just curious as to how the effort is going to get the magazine back ? Gregg seemed pretty stoked about being able to get the magazine going again with some support, which unfortunately for me is a little too rich right now but I hope to be able to send in some money later this year. Sure hope he is successful, I know a lot of people are pulling for him!
  24. Well now I am just gonna have to wait and really blow my hobby budget with that news Jim!
